Anyone else cursed by needing something AFTER you've chucked it?

These pics from several years ago is the reason I let stuff go now.

My garage was completely unusable and you couldn't even play one game without having to move crap. I do envy guys that have large properties and can use storage sheds or containers to keep stuff. It's just not in the cards for me. But having such a confined space has forced me to be more organized and come up with creative storage solutions.
I can't believe that is the same space.

If you're not storing parts and BOXES on top of the games, then you're doing it all wrong. :)

Some of my arcade stash. Each container is associated with one game/mfr, i.e. Asteroids or Galaga etc, or Cinematronics or Williams etc, or power (AR1/2 etc) or monitors (AMP./6100 vector) etc. They stack well - ie. my version of "levels". LOL (Note, boxes on top of the containers making even more "levels").

But realistically, with a hobby like this, you must have SPARE PARTS. Right?

These aren't the arcade parts you want. Move along.. laughs.

Still buying parts. Still supporting my collection and other people's collections.

Bought a pile of coin doors just to have them

I use to let the public roam through the parts but I don't anymore. Too many lies and Too many people look at your collection as their next big score.

Trust me calling someone a hoarder gets you put you on a list. Laughs.

I still have a pile of ISA Sound Blaster cards that I just can't toss.

Them're worth money now.

Hoarding has its advantages and disadvantages. But I'd rather have something than wish I hadn't recently gotten rid of it. Which always seems to be my luck. Right after I get rid of a bunch of stuff (very rare occurrences) I will immediately need some of it, and the price of whatever is was has quadrupled.

I've been trying to clear out all the crap I've been storing forever. I was selling a board that I didn't know what it was, I thought it might be a gorf. I was informed it was a tomahawk deco board when I listed it. I thought what a weird obscure game why would I have that board? I had no clue so I sold it.
When I got enough stuff cleared out do you know what I found buried in the back? A tomahawk deco cab!
Aaaahhhhhhhhhh

Oh, don't throw out your BOXES either .... might need them later.
LOL - can anyone identify this box hoarder? :)

But it's a really good box!

Oh and yeah I save every damn thing too. I can throw away one single thing and I will need that one thing within 3 weeks. It is overwhelming the amount of crap.... er spare parts I've hoarded... f I find more space, I hoard more stuff... I absolutely hate to throw it away if it can be used by someone. Or I never know if a cabinet might come into my life that will need that part! Anyway this thread reminds me.... I'm going to go pick something out of the pile and list it on the Freebie Friday thread. :001_sbiggrin:

My problem is, I bought it( knowing I did)., Go look for it.. cant find it.. :oops2: look again, reorder it. when it arrives, find my previous part... next time.. cant find it.. reorder it again... its like ground hog day again and again....in a nut shell, I have ALOT of parts to sell...;):ROFLMAO:

Yeah... it happens outside of arcade stuff too... 15 yrs ago I replaced the engine in a mid 80s ford diesel truck... it was only after the engine was gone that I realized there was a control valve on the throttle linkage that is UNOBTAINIUM... I've been looking in earnest for the past 4 years for a replacement... I've found a couple in the wrecking yards, but being plastic and brittle after 40 yrs... usable ones just can't be found... mine still works for now, but it's tired.... and I'm always careful under the hood so as to not look at it wrong, lest it disintegrate into a useless crumble of dust

Another case of "if I knew then what I know now..."

This ONLY applies to anyone who has ever chucked anything ever in their life.

It's the rule of thumb. Whatever you "chuck", you will instantly need the next day.

Just do what the rest of us do and never throw anything away.

The sad fact of life is that you will never need ANY of the stuff you keep. Until you "chuck" it, of course...

I will buy those bags and foam!

I don't throw anything out except damaged wood. I still have a pile of ISA Sound Blaster cards that I just can't toss.
If they have the sound chips on them, we sell those all week long for $17 each chip...
