I have a line on a Mortal Kombat cabinet that I'm looking to get brought down here. I plan on getting some shipping quotes from uShip among others, but I figured I'd ask here too in case someone is already heading this way. I have an older pickup truck, so I'm a little leery of making the run with it. I bring this up because I am willing to drive a reasonable distance if someone is coming down here, but not necessarily to my exact location.

If you're not familiar with the dimensions and weight of this particular game, it's about 27" wide, 41" deep and 73" tall. Shipping weight is about 335lbs.

While definitely not speaking for him, I know that @jmac is driving up there for CAX at the end of July... If that's soon enough, if he has room in whatever vehicle he's taking.

I just found out that the seller needs this item out of his place by this weekend, so I'll have to pass on this sale unless a uShip shipper is able to pick it up.

Careful with uship none of their shippers are vetted. Just random people who agree to pick something up. A guy over at pinside had a pinball machine stolen by a person on uship, showed up picked it up was never heard from again. No recourse against uship the company either as they are just a middle man of connecting people together.

Yeah this is good advice and I try to be as careful as possible when dealing with online strangers. In this case, I was actually more worried about the Facebook Marketplace seller given that I sent off the money via Venmo and there isn't any recourse there either, but strangely, the shipper I ended up finding actually knew the seller I was working with as he had done business there before. He also had 9 years of uShip service/reviews that were basically all positive and he had experience moving arcade games.

In the end, the delivery went off without a hitch and there were no damages or anything. I would have no problem going with the same guy again for any shipments on the west coast.

One thing to note is that uShip does offer shipping insurance. I was quoted $50 for $2500 of coverage...not that I needed that much, but I actually declined it. I'm fairly certain the terms of that coverage would have protected me against theft.
