I have read about how Alex is not the fastest but after repairing my Asteroids Deluxe boards and receiving and depositing my personal check; he has not responded to my emails for almost a week. I don't like PayPal so I took a chance and now I am left hanging...and I'm starting to become uncomfortable as he has my boards AND my money and will not reply to any emails.
I have read that he travels a lot but he deposited my check after I asked if he received it and then would never say if/when he will ship my boards back. My check has cleared...
Is this normal for Alex? Does he normally notify customers when he ships boards back? Anyone else have any input here?
Thanks!

I think it's standard for him. Sucks, but standard. He has my Sea Wolf Boards (I think) as I sent them to him almost 2 weeks ago but never heard a word one way or the other. Just trying to get him to respond to emails in the first place was a bitch. Now I have no idea if he has them or not, but I am sure he does. I hear great things about his work, but his communication is lacking.

I have dealt with him a couple times, but luckily I am local to the area, so I usually drop my stuff off. Sometimes he gets busy and takes his time to reply via emails; however, his work is absolutely top notch and he is the first person I look to for board repair. He has repaired a couple Asteroids boards for me and helped me with my Space Invaders Deluxe and I would recommend him 100%. The only issue is that sometimes his communication is a bit lacking, but trust me it is well worth the wait.

Agreed. He takes a while but he does top-notch work. He's a one-man operation due to his other profession but it well worth the wait!

His alternate email addy "[email protected]" bounced on me....
I know I'm a little impatient, it just makes me feel better that others have the same/similar experiences, thanks for the responses here guys!
I have a funny feeling that he went out of town for awhile...

I always use his Elektron Forge addy. I emailed him last week about my SID issue and haven't heard back yet so he might be out of town. He is that last person that would ever stick it to someone so rest assured you have nothing to worry about.

I had used him last year and he was a slow communicator but I was patient and he did a great job. No big deal, worth the wait.

This year I finally gave up after waiting patiently for about 7-8 weeks just to get things lined up to send in my BattleZone boards. I finally was forced to go with someone else and that worked out well for me as they were very responsive, inexpensive, and did a great job of fixing my boards for me.

The suspense is killin' me! Who did you use?

Road.Runner from here. Very smooth experience. Highly recommended.

Now if I could just find someone to repair my Star Trek boards I'd be happy.

He finally replied today! Hooray!
Hopefully others will be contacted today as well.

It's 2010 people - it's time to step-up the communication game - that's ridiculous as a one man operation or not. I work 10 hour days - have a contract job on the side, and do freelance from time-to-time and still find time to email back my employer/customer. Droid, iPhone, Netbook, tablet, or just go to your computer and check your emails once in a while.

It takes awhile. He gets busy with other work from his primary job.

I would not worry, but keep emailing him checking on the progress.

You'll get your boards back.. and they'll likely be working.

i agree with the above statement, i e mailed him many times for my Seawolf boardset to get repaired (last year) got tired of no response sent them to Eldorado , sent him a few e mails for my Guided Missile board set, again no response sent to Eldorado, i emailed him 10/22 about my Ramteck and still no response i come on this forum and i hear he has responed to outher people,

i understand the one man show but still what does it take but a few mins to say or have a auto responce e mail( i received your e mail and i will get back to you--------) with all the modern tech it is easy, then if you send him too many e mails he gets all up set so you are dam if you do and dam if you dont, he did do 3 board sets for me a few years ago at a cost of $500, i would figure he would take care of his good paying customers i never haggled or said anything bad i just paid .
I have delt with outher people on arcade repairs on this forum and they are great in commucation and prompt e mails, great customer service and there work is great and you know who you are.

Well one would hope so...
Well I finally, FINALLY got my Asteroids Deluxe boards back, after several shipping delays.
The main board works great. That's the good.
Now the bad.
Now all my sounds are distorted while playing the game. Alex actually told me that the AR I board that I sent him was from an Asteroids (I did not know the history of this particular cab before I bought it) and that he could modify it so it DID NOT distort the sounds. So WTF happened here? Did he forget to make the mods? And again, he is not responding to my emails. This corners me to find another AR I board and perhaps find another tech to fix mine or one that I can buy off the forums here. The fact that he won't/can't reply is so frustrating as now I'm in the dark as exactly what I should do. Look for a WTB post I guess...

Well he got back to me as well and told me my boards were done. I paid the man yesterday and now I am waiting for him to send them to me. I would expect they'll be here next week.

Yeah, just be patient. Don't email him a zillion times. If he has your boards he'll fix them and send them back. He doesn't have time to answer how is it going emails. Just got my Gun Fight boards back recently and all is well....

That's the point. He sent my boards back "fixed" but they are not or appear not. I have not emailed him a zillion times either. Nothing I personally would find unacceptable for "after the sale" support.

My bad, if I could read this would help. Ok, next question. Are you sure every other component of your game is working properly?

When I plugged in my GF boards the darn game did not work, either. Since my power supply was just rebuilt it was the last thing I checked. Just so happens the +5v was down to 4.88 and needed to be closer to 5.1; so I turned it up and the game works.

Also, sometimes things get banged around during shipping, ROMS come loose and what not.

Not trying to insult your intelligence, just trying to help. Yes, its possible that Alex missed something but its unlikely. He tests(and plays) every game he fixes before he ships it out.
