I am planning to bring my Crossbow and Chiller to CAX this coming July and I am having a problem with the Chiller. When both of these games were shipped to me from the East Coast, the PCB inside of the Chiller fell off of the side of the cabinet and split two of the wires. The game fires up and plays without these wires attached but there is no sound.

I was wondering if someone wouldnt mind taking a look at the Chiller on the Friday before the show. The game is much more enjoyable with sound.

I want to have it available for everyone to play.

Email me at [email protected] if you are going to be at the show and think you might be able to help out.

Thanks!

Dirk :) ,

Are you able to reattach and/or resolder these wires back together? I've never worked on an Exidy shooter, but it sounds like this should be an easy fix.

Another thing to try...did you try plugging in the Chiller board into the Crossbow and see if you get sound? The boards should be interchangeable, but be sure you plug the right connectors into the right outputs is all (I suggest labeling everything first :) ). Then you can tell for sure if the problem is these wires (which it probably is)...

I'm sure we can get this working :D ...

The wires didnt split, they tore out of the harness connector so its a little more difficult that just soldering them back together. I also dont want to risk doing irreversible damage so I might just wait until we get a tech at the show to take a look at it.

Gotcha...I've fixed these before...it's pretty easy. Is it a molex or an edge connector type?

Just gotta have the right tools and equipment... :)

Someone at the show should be able to do this in about 3 minutes... :D

brendan, bring both games to the show and I can fix it for you. Pretty sure the wiring is the same so should make it easy to confirm where they go. I think you can pop the pins out of the exidy harness and replace them. I would think its like a 15 min job. I won't charge you too much...

thanks dirk for offering up these games to CAX this year! sounds like cax has not had any exidy shooters for quite sometime. this will be my first cax.... would be awesome to play some chiller! its been a looong time since ive played one :) chris

I also just decided to bring my "The Act" prototype animated game for those of you who missed it last year. Damon C brought his cabinet last year so he is taking a break this year... its my turn to do the duty.

I think we all agreed that "The Act" was the most popular piece at CAX last year.

Yeah... I don't remember at any point of both saturday or sunday where there was any less than 15-20 people surrounded around The Act. Even at the end of the day on Sunday... Damon had to tell people waiting to play that this would be the last game because he had to shut the machine off to start packing it up.

Dirk... glad you are making it this year :)
