Nothing wrong with collecting home game consoles, but I just got something shipped to me and it set me off...
WHY....WHY..... WHY THE F--- would someone ship a console that is still in its original package by just wrapping it with a bag and sending it through the mail?
I have gotten Commodore 64's that were in their original box with my address slapped on the outside and posted stamped on it. Seriously!
I paid good money for a nice item, and then some jackass wraps it in a paper bag? Does he not know instead of a cardboard box getting crushed ... it will be THIS box? Of course, the corners are crushed.
What an ass.
I wouldn't doubt some people would put a PCB in a envelope and send it as well... there are real idiots out there.
Anyway, I am planning to buy two of every major console from Generation 1 to 7 in the next year. I want one boxed for "show" and one to play (and do a video mod to so it gets good quality video out instead of the RF crap.)
So here is my list of consoles I must get:
Atari - Atari 2600
Bally - Astrocade
Fairchild - Channel F
Magnavox - Odyssey2
Mattel - Intellivision
RCA - Studio II
Atari - Atari 5200
Coleco - Coleco Vision
Emerson - Arcadia 2001
Atari - Atari 7800
Nintendo - Nintendo Entertainment System
Sega - Sega Master System
NEC - Turbografx-16
SNK - Neo Geo
Nintendo - Super Nintendo
Sega - Genesis
Amiga - CD-32
Atari - Jaguar
Nintendo - Nintendo 64
Panasonic - 3DO
Sega - Saturn
Sony - Playstation
Nintendo - Game Cube
Sony - Playstation 2
Microsoft - Xbox
Sega - Dreamcast
Nintendo - Wii
Sony - Playstation 3
Microsoft - Xbox 360
I've got 11. Ouch. Long way to go.
Am I missing anything? No limited japanese versions, prototypes, or knock-offs are needed.
