Trying to root out the local Canucks. Lots of great deals in the US but I can't possibly drive that far. If you've got a dedicated cab that works and you're within the province it wouldn't hurt to PM me with what you have, I have a bit of money to burn and a desire to start collecting.

If you go to the Community link -> Member List above and do an Advanced User Search, you can enter Ontario into the location field. There are quite a few people that come back with that location. Some are from other forums, but the higher post counts and arcade related avatars are a dead giveaway for who you seek.

Not too many Ontarians hanging around here. Shame :( guess I'll have to keep trolling Kijiji and Craigslist.

Are you the guy who bought that Roy Clark cocktail pin off CGCC? That little thing was pretty ballin' (hah, pun.)

I got my Roy Clark off of CL here in Dallas for $125 and it is in excellent condition. :)

There are probably 3 to 4 somewhat regular Ontario guys on here I think. Let me post the IDs of the guys I normally see.

The last two guys were on today and yesterday respectively. You should send them a PM, maybe they know a good game source in the area if they don't have anything available themselves.

Edit: wysiwyg2 has a couple games for sale on his website.

I'm in BC :) Welcome aboard to KLOV

My best advice for you would be to discreetly snoop around and find out who the operators are in your area. I troll local buy and sells, craigslist and ebay looking for games.

If you literally do have money to burn, you might be suprised to find out in some cases shipping games isn't all that costly.

I have a buddy in Ajax, ON who has 10 games. Mappy, T&F, Xevious, Dragon's Lair, Burger Time, Crystal, Ms.Pac, DK, Battlezone and Spy Hunter. He flew into Jersey recently, stayed at my place just to go to Richie Knucklez arcade. That's dedication.

Thanks for the tips and well-wishes guys :) I'm in Huntsville if anyone's curious, willing to travel for the right machine. I'd prefer to get something just playable at this point and then restore it myself, I've seen some beautiful restorations but I would rather just spend less money on a project of which I could be personally responsible for the end result. I think you all know the feeling :) This would be my first machine too, newbie discounts are welcome!! :p

Welcome fellow Ontarian! It looks like you're already searching the right places - the CGCC forums, Kijiji, Craigslist. You might also want to try the MAACA forums and usedtoronto.com. Most of the machines posted on the local 'for sale' sites are junky overpriced MAMEs, but once in a while something comes up. You could also contact the guy who runs the Replay Classic Arcade Museum in T.O. and see if there are any for sale, or go to the next Starburst auction.

I've seen a couple around Ottawa in the last few weeks. How far are you willing to travel? Any particular games you're interested in?

I'll likely be attending the Starburst this December 5th. Hopefully I'll be able to snag something decent. Other than that, I can't travel too far as I'm at the mercy of another person for transportation. So Toronto and Ottawa would be okay, but Thunder Bay and Niagara Falls would be a stretch, for example.

There are actually quite a few of us in Ontario . (Easily 200+)

I'm in Ottawa and know at least 40 other collectors in a 20 mile radius.

Few of them post on this Forum, but most are very active on

http://www.maaca.org/

(Montreal Arcade and Amusement Collectors Assoc. )

That site has at least 200 very active members,
(Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto, but all over Canada too )
and you can probably find pretty much any thing you're looking for.

Good luck,

Steph

I am in Detroit (suburbs) so, I am technically North of ON...

Anyone know how difficult it is to cross the border with a game?

It's actually very simple to cross the border with a game. Just tell the person at the Customs booth that you purchased an arcade game for $x.xx. Depending on the amount, and the agent's mood, they'll either let you go through or ask you to go into the main building to pay the tax on it. If that happens, just go inside to the desk and show them your receipt. (hand-written from the seller is fine) and they'll tell you how much tax to pay. Coin-op video games are generally duty-free, so you just have to pay HST I think. They take cash, debit and credit cards. That's really all there is to it.

Thanks!!

This, of course, would have been better news to get back wehn the exchange rate was around $1.40 Canadian to $1.00 US...! But this is a GREAT excuse to get over to Little Italy and Ceasar's Windsor and pick-up a game!!

Always great to find another fellow Canadian. I'm from Chatham Ontario and always have several games for sale, some fully working, some projects.

Send me a pm if you're interested.

Ontario KLOV'ers

I just went to a location in Whitby yesterday where the guy is selling off his entire stock. I picked up a Pole Position 2, Dig Dug, and a Ms Pac man cab, all for under $500.
