Man, this is about 7 years too early for me. I'm actually looking to retire on a mountain with an arcade attarched to my house! Good luck with the sale (or wait 7 more years...)!

Sad post indeed. Judging from the games he's keeping and the quantity I don't think he's lost the passion for collecting.

Has anyone told Wil Wheaton about this? He was drooling over peter's arcade a while back.

I have my mega millions ticket also! We'll see!

Good luck with the sale. I hope you get what you want and more! You put a lot into that place!

I'm going to go the other way with this, I don't think it's sad, it's just life. If he needs to move on, good for him I hope it works out. Life has doors that close and others that open, he did this for a while and now needs to move on.

I think Peter should get about the business of advertising this as the greatest home gameroom on the planet, and not only get out with his shirt but make a profit off of it. Hire a high-powered real estate agent and slap a price on what it's worth, not what your bottom dollar is.

Times are tough, but when you're talking about a million dollar house people have money for that. Times are tough for the middle class, not the people that can afford this home.

Peter, best wishes with the next phase of your life, don't let this happen to you, be proactive and make the money you deserve for building such a great arcade.

Hi Michael,

As I told someone else: No idea money-wise. Honestly - I don't even seriously expect to get a taker - so I haven't really thought about the price. I would definitely want to get it professionally appraised and sell it for market value + a little bit for the machines and stuff that conveys. Somewhere around $800k - $900k is my wild-ass guess based on previous appraisals we've had for refinancing, etc. The market is down now in this area, so those figures may be high. I just don't know.

Not looking to profit - just looking to get out without losing my ass.

Most importantly I'm just trying to find a Charlie to take over the Chocolate Factory. If I can find that guy, then we can figure out a price.

I could SERIOUSLY offer $250,000 but it sounds like that wouldn't even be in the ball park.

Wish I could just buy the arcade building with all the games. :)

Wow! On one hand I truly wish you well Peter. On the other I wish the awesome creation you brought to life would live on. I never got to Luna City but if it still feels as if it's the 80's and I just heard the news that my favorite arcade is scheduled to close. What you created represents what most of us dream of but will never be able to attain. So I guess we sort of live vicariously through you. At the very least Luna City gives us something to strive for. All I can truly say is please take detailed pictures as it currently stands to document what you have made. If not for yourself for those of us who are still inspired by Luna City. If there were some way I could afford to buy what you are offering I surely would. If for no other reason than to keep the dream alive.

Peter,
I remember watching your build pics for your current arcade and I was amazed. I am inspired to do as you did when you opened your arcade to help those in your community. I dream of doing what you did in a smaller scale someday. Best wishes to you, your family and your friends.

Peter, just wanted to say Luna City has been an inspiration for me in this hobby and I know it has been admired by a lot of European collectors.
I'm sad to see you have to make this decision, without having to know the reason.

I sure hope you will find someone who can take over the lot. Good luck for you and your family !

Again, you get the house, the arcade, the games, the posters, the artwork - everything except the games noted in the spreadsheet.

PLEASE - somebody come take it over so it can stay as-is, and as it should be. It's that or the games get wholesaled and almost certainly parted out on ebay, and the building gets converted into somebody else's garage.

Sorry, but I will not piecemeal any part of this sale. You buy the house - you get everything else. That's the deal. I refuse to watch the collection walk out the door 1 machine at a time. I just can't do it.

Regards,
-Peter

First of all , I am sorry for your loss that lead to the possible demise of Luna City. But I just don't get this post at all. You say you want it to stay as is, but you are keeping almost half the games. The arcade will be only a shell of what it is now. You also say you can't stand to see the games walk out 1 machine at a time, but then threaten to wholesale them and that they will certainly be parted out. So you can live with them being parted but not leaving the arcade in one piece ? I will most likely get flamed for this but I am sincerely just trying to make sense of it all.

Re:

Wow, I can't believe what I am reading. I could never have what you have in a million years, but I understand you have to make due sometimes. Gopd luck with the sale, but to me it's priceless.

Peter, I remember several years ago seeing your site and pics of the original Luna City and was like wow! and then saw the amazing update of it and have always been inspired by you and what you've done for this hobby. Nothing but the best of luck in finding a Charlie to keep the factory going.

Peter,

You were my inspiration to start collecting games. You are missed.

Ben

+1 on that. You inspired me as well. I even call my arcade "Little Luna" out of respect to what you've done for this hobby.

Please don't take down your websites until I can save all the links you reference on them.

Best of luck... and thanks again for everything you've done. You Rock!

Aaron

Peter,
good luck on your sale for whatever reasons you need to bail for. I had to do the same last July due to the loss of my father. I relocated 700 miles to be able to move closer to my mom (only child).
Anyhow, im a bit confused. Looking at the list you have a hell of a lot of games, however the "drawing" games you aren't letting go with the deal. Agreed the arcade is VERY impressive - I watched the progress as most did online, but its like Willy Wonka taking the oompa loompas with him when he leaves - it just wont be the same.
Does this mean your not "getting out of it" as first stated, just keeping a smaller collection and still be in the hobby?
Anyhow, good luck in your situation, and im sorry to see you have to sell something you worked so hard on. Shame I only got to see it online. At least it will be preserved on the web no matter what happens to it after the sale.

why dont you guys near luna city just go in on it together? Make a deal with Peter and buy a few arcades a piece and set up shop near there?

I have to agree with ArcRevival. He's keeping all the good games. Doing that makes selling the whole thing pointless. I don't understand.
