if all goes well in the next couple of weeks i will be repainting my tron..

Im going to go unoriginal and i want a decent paintjob thats smooth and and shines nice...

THEREFORE, i will be spraying the paint on via hvlp gun

now im either going to use automotive grade paint (basecoat/clearcoat), or go cheapo and use the duplicolor paintshop paint and clear....

Theres pros and cons to all paints, has anybody used duplicolor and whats been your result?
I understand its lacqquer so itll take alot of work to sand and buff it to a shine.. i dont mind the extra work if i get a nice result!

Painting over soft material like wood with a base coat/clear (hard finish when cured) will chip if you bump into it with another game wont it?

Hope it comes out nice, good luck!!

The duplicolor is laquer paint. It will always be soft. Not as soft as latex enamel though

Most base clears are catylyzed and will harden and be resilliant to scuffs

Maybe, but you could always add a flex additive to the base and clear. That will give you a little more security from chipping. If it works on car bumpers it should be good enough for a cabinet.

thats what im thinking.,.,,,, the other pro to paintshop is there is NO recoat window meaning if i scrastch it 6 mos form now i could spray new paint ontop with no worry of the old paint wrinkling underneath...
