I have a Data East Star Wars sound board that I need help with or some one to repair. So who on here repairs these?

What specifically is wrong? If its general electronics fix up, I might be able to assist. Note, I don't do commercial repair, just someone with an electronics background and a well set up workshop. If its specific to the fact that it's a Data East sound board, I might be a bit out of my league. I just got my first pin yesterday. :D

It is a Data East Star Wars pinball sound board. There is no sound. All of the voltages to the sound board and the voltage regulators on the sound board are all correct.

I'm leaning towards the caps on the sound board. Just haven't got to it yet. Watched a video where a Simpson pinball had low sound (same model of sound board) and it was the caps. So that is my next course of action.

I would consider just upgrading it to a Pinsound board. There are some cool sound options for this game.

Sound board has been sent off for repair. Wanting to keep all the boards original in this pinball.

Once I get it back I will be putting the machine up for sale. If the new owner wants to upgrade, that's up to them.

I appreciate the suggestion. However not for me. I like keeping things original if I can.

Monday will be six weeks since ksarcade received the sound board from my Data East Star Wars. It should not take this long to repair a board. Monday I will be calling and requesting that my board be sent back.

In the meantime I will be contacting Coin-Op Cauldron to see how long it will take to get the sound board repaired.

Oh and I have called a couple of times to see if any work has been done. Same story, no not yet. It could be a few more weeks.

I have a sound board in a Lethal Weapon 3 and I know it's the board as I swapped in a working one and it works fine.
When I turn on the non working one, the audio says the first part of the audio "back in action" and then stops and doesn't get to "everybody dance now". Nothing else works after that.
When you restart machine, it does the same thing.
Tried swapping ROMs + EF68B09EP Microprocessor with working board and it does the same thing.
Maybe I should swap the BSMT2000 DSP Audio chip?

Worth a shot. Otherwise Chris Hibbler is the guy on Pinside who fixes these. He has a YouTube channel as well.

I would suspect either bad RAM and/or bad PLD chips. I do repairs on these and just fixed a board last night with bad RAM. Need to use the proper desoldering gear when working on these boards to prevent damage to the traces, pads, and through hole plating. I put in sockets to make it easier if the chips ever need replacement again.

I have another Data East sound board that is going bad. This time on a Last Action Hero.
I sent Chris Hibler a PM on Pinside.

EDIT: Never mind.

Announcement
With great regret, I have retired completely from pinball board repairs.
I thank you for your patience and for all the support you have offered in the past.

Jerry Clause. See this post. My brother sends boards to him all the time, usually about a week or 2 turnaround for the boards he's sent to Jerry.
