Anybody REALLY good at Burgertime? Looking for tips

I used to play Burgertime in the arcades, but not all that much, mostly just as a filler game waiting for the games I really wanted to play opened up. Been playing it a fair amount on MAME lately and it gets very hard pretty quick. I can always get through the first 2 levels (often on my first guy), and usually finish the third. But the 4th just kills me. I've finished the 4th level only once.

Since I saw the 5th level only once, I don't even remember it. I did a search on youtube and didn't see any impressive players. Anyone really good at this game? Good enough to show the 5th & 6th (or more) levels and record it on either a real game or MAME and throw it on youtube?

Or any good player tips or guides?

I own it, love it, yet suck at it. I usually can't get past the 2nd. I haven't practiced much, but it's a tough, tough game. It would be one of the last ones to go, if I had to lose the collection.

Burgertime

Its my best game, played yesterday and got 1,307,000. The videos above are good source for ideas, but most of the patterns I use to group the enemies is just from playing, after playing awhile you get a feel for it. You really have to watch someone play, for example my dad is at about 800,000 from watching me and then putting his own twist on things.

Wish I could be more help, let me know if you have specfic questions

Damn Gregr is killin it on Btime! I can get close to about 200k and love the game. In general you can get more points by not dropping the full burger from the top. Work your way up the stack dropping pickle chips, eggs, and hot dogs on each level of the burger. You will get a lot more points this way (or at least that has been my experience). Also, look out for the resurrection- those things know where you are and will pop back up where you dropped them. The fourth board is not coming to mind right now, but the same general tips above still apply-don't try to get to the top of the burger to start dropping toppings- chip away at it from the bottom to maximize your points.

one general tip i have is to notice the enemies, esp the hotdogs,
like to do a "1 & 1" method of chasing you.

if you are below or above them, they take the next ladder section they come across.
at the next landing, they move left/right toward you. when they
hit the next ladder, they take it up or down as needed, etc etc.
knowing how they chase you is key in being one step ahead.
as with most classic games, do not simply focus on your character.
you know where you're walking him. pay more attention to the
radius around you and be aware of enemy approach. always have
an exit. if you don't keep from dying, you can't score any points!

you can often fool the enemies by being two steps into a ladder,
then when they take the bait, back off and continue on your way.
trick them bastards with all you got!

I am glad Joe asked this question! I just moved Burger time into the arcade yesterday and began playing it last night. The tips will come in handy.

I love Burgertime, though I have only gotten past the second stage once. That is the mark of a good game. I only ever see 2 stages, and I still keep coming back for more. I have done the old 'drop all the baddies on one condiment' for 4000 points a time or 2. Exhilarating to say the least, though I usually burn 2-3 pepper shakes to do it.

Patterns??? But I thought vids were dynamic and different every time you play ;) ;)

I'm not good myself but then again I rarely play my games including my Burgertime. Guess I need to play some more. I can get to stage 4 and then I get my A$$ kicked.

Good tips! BT is a tough game.I can get to the 5th level, but it sure as hell isn't easy. The baddies move so damn fast in those levels that you have to have some pepper to slow them down otherwise you are screwed.

Burgertime

There are not neccessarily patterns but after you play for awhile you can figure out how to minipulate the enemies to group them and once you pepper them as a a tight group they stick together for the rest of the board and allow you to rack-up the points.

It was one of my favorite games as a kid, played the hell out of it on Intelivision.

Thanks
Greg

Dam..finally a game I'm very good at...I think the best I've ever done is clear all six boards twice in one singe game...the best method is you need to stock up the peppers for the later boards where you will need them to manipulate through the boards...

These dont help at all?

Those were quite amazing and informative. I did not find those when I did searches. Just stuff were people were struggling to get through the first level. Thanks for the links.

I guess I'm doing something wrong.. I can hit 4th level most plays, but my score is only in the 50K's... not sure how over 100K is hit... I've hit 5th 2x atleast, but not enough to figure it out.
