I posted in PARTS WANTED needing a couple Ms Pac boards. Got an email from Michael Pearce saying he had a couple boards, and asked I send him payment via Walmart, which I did. He said he would ship out right away and send tracking info. Payment was picked up 3 days ago and no word from him or replies from my emails. I am wondering if I got scammed.

It would suck if scammers are browsing KLOV and taking people's money. If so it would be a first for me. I didn't loose a lot, but maybe others need to know this is happening.

If I don't hear from him by Wednesday, then I will post to this thread, and maybe to PARTS WANTED so people be more careful than I was.

Walmart has a payment service where you can send someone cash using a credit card and they can pick it up from a specific Walmart. I have seen other people mention it, probably pretty close to a wire transfer, but since it is cash, it doesn't show up on bank statements.

I was obviously too trusting, just didn't expect scammers to be on KLOV.

never send money via wire transfer ( or Walmart way ) like this esp for goods and/or services like this or anything..... cause theirs no way to dispute if something goes wrong & once its out and picked up its gone

lol, yes you probably got scammed.

do paypal at least and don't send it friends and family.

if you have his real adress you could do a police report on him and send the cops over at his place i would think.

He has a face book page that matches the city he is from, hard telling though if its the same guy or not.

Wow, well that is encouraging. Thanks for checking that out. I guess I will wait a day or two before I beat myself up for being scammed.

I would be very surprised if this was not a scam. Sounds very similar to the way they want you to pay when the "IRS" calls you saying they need money or you are going to jail.

So you're saying this person emailed you, and you don't have a KLOV username for them?
(i.e., there was no username associated with the email?)

Just looking to clarify.

Yup, I was scammed. I just chatted with the real guy in Facebook, and he says he is unaware.. Thing is, the guy has to be in his town, and I think he had to show ID to pick up the money. We'll see what Walmart does to help me.

The service is called Moneygram, BTW.

A lot of people have issues with PayPal, but in this case it would have saved you a loss. Sorry you got ripped off. It gives our community a bad rep.

they use western union here at Walmart.....but you must avoid using it at all cost!

I have to agree with this statement. Wire services should only be used when sending money to friends and family. The ability to have someone pick up money with possibly no ID or any other proof of who they are can be handy when helping someone who is stranded or needs help really fast, but is NOT a good idea for purchasing goods from unknown people. Scammers don't like paper trails so it would make sense they would choose a wire service to run their scams.

Klov is full of scamers, I paid for a Qbert wiring harness that I never received and paid paypal gift. They did want to pay the fee's blah blah blah. I paid for a cabinet from Dptwiz in 5-15-2013 and still nothing asked for an update 03-06-2017 and he hasn't signed on here from then. Not saying he's a scamer because of his health problems but still that's 4 years!!
