Have a Sega Turbo upright, but the monitor image has collapsed to a 3/8" wide vertical band (monitor is in vertical config).

OK - finally got around to replacing C408 today. Good call Dok (your are indeed a jedi). As you can see by the attached pics, the vertical (horizontal based on monitor orentation in the game) collapse issue has been resolved. By adjusting Vert Pos and Vert Size pots, I was able to get a centered image to fill the screen area. However, there appears to be some mirroring/ghosting of the image. Additionally, there are some faint white vertical lines and the colors and focus are a bit washed out. Is a complete cap kit the next logical course of action? Any other recommendations from te gurus? Thanks guys...

Cap kit is the easiest thing to start with. If it doesn't need one now, it will in the future. At least that will be one thing off your cause checklist.

Absolutely you should have done a full capkit to begin with. Now you're just making extra work for yourself.

Yeah, OK. Wanted to see how hosed I was. Not a big deal to yank the chassis again. Another question - this is a Turbo upright and the monitor looks smaller than a 19" - more like a 17" pc monitor. Bob Roberts has cap kits for Sega - Nanao MC1400S 14" and MC2000S 20" - is there a difference? Which one do I have? Monitor looks somewhere in between.

The uprights are either 20" or 16"...I believe. Cabarets might be 13". I wouldn't imagine there would be a difference between the 20" or 16"...just check the caps before you replace them.

Replacing C408 was only to fix the collapse. The white lines are raster, turn the flyback brightness down a hair until they go away and you will see that you should do a full cap kit.
