I'm using and arcade vga card with a cabinet i'm building and it doesn't work! I have a breif scrolling image of the bios loadup screen then it went blank never to be seen again! Any setting or tricks I need to know about?

No game pcb this is for a mame system.

You may want to use a regular monitor to set up resolutions, etc first. Also I believe its only the vga port you use for the arcade monitor out.

And be sure to disable/uninstall ANY other video driver including any onboard video stuff.

Resolution, resolution, resolution....... that about covers it.
Be sure you are set to output a resolution that the monitor can actually accept.
Knowing what model arcade monitor you have may help....so that we know what resolutions it's capable of.

As mentioned before, use a regular pc monitor to set it up and then you will need to switch it over to the arcade monitor once the resolution and frequency changes have been made.

Depending on what version ArcadeVGA you have there may be jumpers on the video card that need set if I recall correctly.

no J-pac - using a standard breakout cable from the Arcade VGA card to the monitor. My arcade VGA card is about 2 years old, the board is red in color if that helps identify it. The monitor is also about 2 years old, purchased new from HAPP controls at the time and is a 25"

So how can I configure the resolution? If the arcade VGA card is installed the onvoard video card is diabled and the arcade vga card won't run the standard computer monitor! This would have been much easier if the DH that built my panel didn'r lose the Jpac I gave him and wire me up on some other interface board!

Thanks for the idea - keep'em coming if you have more. I'm thinking right now the amp might be the way to go

That's probably the issue. The card is supposed to simply work without any resolution changes. All I had to do was connect it to my JPac, plug in the JAMMA plug and I had a picture, even on the BIOS and POST screens.

Have you installed the correct drivers and the panel? There is a resolution program that it installs on your task bar. It looks like a little galaga bug. You need to select resolution that your monitor can handle. Mine is at 321 x 240.

I may be wrong, but I thought the red arcadevga let you plug a regular vga computer monitor into one of the jacks.

Some arcadevga cards do and some do not. I have an earlier V2 AGP card and it will not let you hook up a normal PC monitor to it and it's breadboard is red in color. However the later V2's do allow a duel hook up.

If I need to configre someThing in windows using a pc monitor I usually take the arcadevga card out and use a really old PCI matrox card (that way win xp doesn't try nor can it install drivers for it since it pretty old. That way I can configure windows or whatever without worries to messing up the arcade VGA drivers.

A little more info needed...

What kind of monitor is it? How do you have it hooked up? Pics??

ArcadeVGA cards output STD res from the get go (the card you have is an ATI 9200 (I think)). If its hooked up to the monitor correctly you should get a picture all the way into Windows.
