Sold a boardset to this eBay user id: bestbuykg4. I believe they are a buying service, but they claim I sent them a completely different boardset, which I'm pretty sure didn't happen. I have been doing this over 10 years now and have never sent the wrong board to somebody.

Just stinks as they have filed a claim through Paypal/eBay and they've set side my money and really concerned that some random board is going to show up at more door shortly that I never sent instead of the actual board and I'll be out a nice chunk of change.

I realize there probably isn't much I can do here, but wanted to see if anybody had something like this happen.

These are the kind of things that have made me stop selling on ebay. I will buy things occasionally but I don't sell there. There are a lot of dishonest people pulling scams like this far too often on ebay.

Sorry to hear about that Anohony. I hope it is something that is easily resolved.

Same here! Five years ago I use to sell quite a lot on eBay until I started getting scammed on a consistent bases. It started when I sold an item on eBay and the buyer left me positive feedback. Everything went smoothly...or so I thought. A month later the buyer put in a claim to PayPal stating that he never received the item. I pointed out to PayPal the positive feedback for the auction but PayPal (for some unknown reason) decided to side with the buyer. Basically the buyer got the item for free and I was left empty handed. I did email the buyer after all was said and done and he admitted that he scammed me and apologized. Not sure why he did that. I did forward the email to PayPal but was told the claim was closed and nothing more could be done.

This sucks, can't wait to see what they send back in place of the MKII boardset we sent them. I haven't had this happen to me in over 15 years of selling on eBay. I guess I was due, but I'm more than annoyed.

Any advice for pleading my case to eBay?

Anthony

I never did nearly as much selling on ebay as some of you have, but I always recorded everything I did - starting with checking out the item, to packing it up, all the way to shipping it (if I could get away with it...for most boxes I couldn't of course).

Fortunately, i never had to defend myself. I did get into one little bout with a guy once, but he was nice about it and in the end I realized he was correct. I don't think he ever actually filed a claim against me, which was nice.

Still, I haven't sold anything on there since then.

Good luck Anthony, I hope it works out for you. I doubt you'll have much luck talking with ebay, but you should at least try. Unless someone else thinks this is a bad idea, I'd mention that you are aware of this buyer's past reputation and that you feel that that should be taken into consideration when compared to yours.

Just an update, I received a package back from the buyer and it was the board we sent them: an original Mortal Kombat II boardset, exactly what they purchased. Only thing I can think of is that I usually use stock images of boards we sell on eBay as I sometimes have more than one of the same board.

The board we sent looked slightly different but clearly says MKII on the roms, etc. Not sure what these people were thinking, but I guess I'm happy. I'm out the sale, but still have the board and it still works.

Same thing happend to me, I sold an upgrade kit, but my stock photo had a small sticker on it, I added a large graphic sticker to it before shipping and the buyer claimed I sent the wrong it.

I bet the guy meant to send you a non working wrestlemania boardset. You should email him and offer to send the working mk2 board back to him. Honest scammer mistake I am sure.
