I'm curious if any one on here has ever tried a projector instead of a monitor. I just ordered a couple of Eyeclops and want to try them out with my next board. Kinda wondering what kind of quality I can expect out of the picture.

320x240, resolution not so good but what the hell.

Effectively the same as a standard res monitor though, right? Standard res is about 260 if I remember right, but some of those are non-visible lines.

Your real problem is going to be converting the rgb and sync signals into composite so that the projector can use it.

someething like jroks adapters might get the job done

I already have something similar on my test bench for hooking new boards up to. I ordered a different one that outputs through two vga ports. The new one has controls on the board to adjust hold and size.

These projectors say they can display up to 60", but I'm guessing they look like crap at that size. I figure if I keep it down to 25 or 30 inches it will probably look alright. Thankfully, It'll be going in a bar with very dim lighting that shouldn't wash the picture out.

The eye clops are neat lil projectors but very dim. I had about a 30in pic on a wall and it looked pretty decent. Keep in mind they have a very tiny fan inside (I was curious), so long term reliability may not be that great, at least not without cleaning.

They do only have a composite input.

Ps prices on these vary greatly..toys r us had them for 90 at first then they went down to like 60 or 50. I bought mine on clearance from target for $20 ea :)

Lots of projectors have some method of RGB in and a great deal of them will sync to 15khz.

Nice price!

$20, that's awesome! And I thought I was getting a good deal on two for $60 incl. shipping.

I have already ordered a vga to composite adapter for them. The cheapest projectors with a vga input run about $150 as far as I could tell.

As fast as they keep improving lcd light sources, I bet in a couple years these will be bright enough to run just about anywhere.
