If you clip off R135 resistor on the SSIO board on a Tron, it will give you sounds in the Attract mode. I know this works for SH as well. Has any body done this? Have you seen any long term issues?

I've done the mod and have not had any problems plus I went one step further, I wired up one of the unused dip switches on the SSIO so I could turn attract sound on or off.

When you clip that resistor, do you have sounds all the time like a game playing, or do they come and go just like a regular attract mode sound would?

I'm asking because I don't want Trons sounds to be playing constantly if I made this mod.

Thx
Tom

anyway of posting how you did it??

Easy to do, clip resistor R135 right at the solder connection at the board, clip the side of the resistor that faces SW3 dip switches between connectors J1 & J2. I used very thin wire wrap wire and connected one end to the cut resistor lead and fed the wire thru one of the plated trace holes to the underside of board and ran it to the dip switch bank at SW3.

Switches 7 & 8 are unused so I connected the wire to one side of switch 8 solder pad, then ran another wire from other solder pad back to the solder pad that you cut the resistor off of.

So by moving switch #8 on or off you can turn attract sound on & off. Attract mode will play game sounds all the time just as if you put your quarters in and started the game.

Don you have to do that to my Tron board - super cool... I didnt know yours did that... of course it only worked for a minute before I broke it.

My Tron seems to have a slight bug related to attract sound. I haven't done any kind of mod to it, but I can faintly hear the sound during attract mode. It's not enough of a problem to really mess with the board, but still interesting.

Maybe the value of R135 has increased or it is loosing connection?

The first one I saw that had this done had a toggle switch in the coin door to turn it on and off. Kind of Frankenstienish but it tought me how to do the mod. Took a little bit to figure out what was going on.

it's pretty common. they all mostly seem to do it to one degree or another. i've tried different boardsets (2), swapping roms, and amp boards. they all do it.

i like it, except for the machine gun text sound all the time. After about 15 minutes it drives me nuts, ergo, i reconnected r135 on mine.

Anyone want to make a quick video of the attract mode after the mod?

This is very interesting. Same for Satan's Hollow eh?......I too would like to see/hear this beforehand. Agreed on a closer switch also. I do not get into the back much either. Gotta move em to do that ;)
