Any1 know how to fix vertical collapse on Punchout? I replaced TR402/403,still broke

i was told to resoider TR402/403 due to cold issues, thats did not work, then i was told to replace both TR402 & 403 so did,

i put the NEW transistor into spot TR402 = C2073 = NPN 375.. put it all back together and turned on the machine....

STILL SAME PROBLEM.. white vertical line.... vertical collapse... fliped the test switch, samething...

so i decided to take the sound board out and use the TR403 = A940 = PNP 398 to put in the video board... since i wasnt able to find one localy..
so i did that and put the bad one from the vid into the sound... powerd it up and.....

STILL SAME PROBLEM.. white vertical line... vertical collapse... fliped the test switch, samething... and the sound still works so i know the TR403 was good...

So now I know that this problem has NOTHING to do with TR403 & TR402

So now what do I do???

At the place where i bought the new transistor he told me to look for any 100uf CAPS around the TR402/403 spots and replace them if the new transistors do not fix it, So I found one on the chassie that im going to try to replace, and see if that does anything....

Does anyone have any other ideas on what would be the problem or what can fix this????

I relly want to get this fixed!

And if anyone can help me, i would love you forever!

I assume that you are referring to the monitor and chassis. First off, post this in the monitor section of this forum. At the same time, list the monitor type and add a few more pictures (the more detail the better). Second, order a cap kip and install. You can buy these cap kits from a few places, I use "The Real Bob Roberts". If you continue to have problems, then repost and we can go from there. The guys in the monitor section will get you up and running.

i think you need to start testing resistors. un solder one leg and test. follow the transistor circuit and start testing all the components that make sense to you that make up the circuit after looking at the schematics. start testing for continuity from one point to another. test from the leg of the transistor that test good to the next component. follow the circuit, see where it leads and test... could be theres a crack in the trace? must inspect closely.
search google for how to test different components.
sorry i dont have crystal ball to tell me to tell you whats wrong with your chassis. if i did have magic, i would use it now.

EDIT - I see this thread was started a while back before I helped you in the other thread. Still, we didn't need two of the same thing. Perhaps a mod can delete this one and merge the responses to the other....

There is another thread on this:

Until you replace all the caps, you may just end up chasing ghosts. While replacing the caps may NOT fix it, it COULD fix it - but at least you'd know that wasn't the problem....

yah sorry about the double post..... but here today im going to replace the caps... and see what happens.. but yes its going to be trial and error now,, so if the new caps do not fix it then ill start the trace test looking for cracks...

thanks
