Any Vector heads repair Space fury or Star Trek Boardsets?

Going to be getting these two games next week. Both are DOA.
While I am definitly hoping I can get them running. I am going to
assume they have board problems.

Anyone repair these?

Thanks,
Mike

I only found 1 person that would do it and he wanted $100/board. Not per boardset, per board.

Love to know if there's anyone else.

Assuming the games made it (fedex and ups are still showing non-delivrable zipcodes out your way), you may be able to get one game working by just swaping boards around.

I just checked my refrence list and the CPU, ROM, XY Timing and XY Control boards can be used in either game. Obviously you would need to swap out the roms on the rom board. The speach and sound boards for star trek and space fury are unique to each game and can not be swapped successfully.

The games will boot without the sound and speach boards so you can pull those to reduce complexity and see if they were dragging down the bus on the backplane.

Actually they are coming freight.. so probably a week or two.

Thanks for the tips on interchangeability.. I didn't know that.

Just noticed your signature line and I have working and Sega TacScan and Eliminator board sets complete with card cages I have been keeping as spares. If I continue with my goal to free up cabinent space, both may be sold off soon.

Almost. The speech boards are the same (with different ROM voices), but the sound boards are different.

The output from the speech board is input to the sound board and mixed with the other sounds.

The eprom boards are more plentiful than any of the other boards, I'd say.

Actually, only a few are interchangeable...

STAR TREK - sound board #0377
TAC/SCAN - sound board #0377
ELEMINATOR - sound board #3174
SPACE FURY - sound board #0241
ZEKTOR - sound board #3249

STAR TREK - speech board #0294
TAC/SCAN - n/a
ELEMINATOR - n/a
SPACE FURY - speech board #0183
ZEKTOR - speech board #0183

send a PM to Mongo, he fixed mine several years ago and he knew what he was doing...

not sure if he still works on them but I am sure he could fix yours.

I'd be down for both, pm me when you are ready to do some cleaning..

Do you have any spare working sound boards? I have been looking for Eliminator and Battlestar.

I know which sound boards are compatible and the differences between them.
Maybe you're teaching me something new about the speech boards though.
I never realized that the speech boards were different.

I went out there and looked at a stack of them.
The Space Fury ones are missing the socketed 8035 chip. Not used?
The '0294' ones I have look identical to the '0183's except for the presence of the 8035 chip and the addition of two links and two cuts to change the strapping for the eproms from 2716 to 2732s.

They're actually silk-screened as 800-0183 with the 0183 marked over and hand labeled 0294 rev A. So, except for the strapping for the different ROMS, I'm still saying they're identical.

I'll check out a couple more from the machines at storage to see if I see anything else.

Different, but functionally the same once strapped and populated correctly. I was able to convert a random pile of these speech boards from both raster and vector G80 games all to Star Trek speech boards.

Yes, you can modify one specific class of speech board to replace another. I believe it is the Zektor and Eliminator boards that can be modded but I would verify this info before cutting any traces.
