most games after a certain year have a mostly standardized pinout. Actually it is because of the fighting games like street fighter that I say "mostly." Many fighters have more buttons that the standardized pinout accommodated so they created an extra harness for these buttons. It's usually called a kick harness. But to more simply answer your question, I would think that most 4 button horizontal jamma boards would be easily swapped into a sf2 cab. I would imagine other sf boards would likely also be a straight swap and the extra buttons would utilize the existing kick harness. Other 6 button jamma games might require a different kick harness or some rewiring though.

yes it is an easy swap. You can play hundreds of games in that set up.

The CPS2 fighting games use a kick harness which is around $10-$20.

But, CPS2 games have a suicide battery in them and if you are not familar with this, you should read up on it.

If it was me, I would get a multi-board and put it in there, it's a lot less hassle and a lot cheaper than buying a bunch of boards. One multiboard can play up to hundreds of games.

Inside the cabinet is what they call the "edge connector." It attaches to the edge of the main board.

like p1899m said, for most boards with the JAMMA standard, you just unplug the edge connector from the SFII and plug it in to any other JAMMA board.

A few exceptions are games like Golden Tee, or MVS (Neo Geo/SNK), and a lot of other fighting games. The "Kick Harness" usually plugs in to a different portion of the board, and runs the additional buttons, as the JAMMA standard only supports 3 buttons per player and Golden Tee uses a track ball, MVS uses up to 4 per player plus a few extra for start and game select, and fighters usually use 6 buttons

One other thing that hasn't been brought up is the first few Street Fighter (WW, CE, HF, etc) boardsets were CPS-1 and they used a different kick harness than the later games. An adaptor used to be readily available on eBay but I didn't find one when I did a quick search. Many people on these boards, including myself, could make one pretty easily if you decide you want/need one.

thank for all replies. i have learn something already. i will try to get the cab then and will try to play with once i get it. thanks again. i am excite about possiblity of changing it with multigame board. thanks again.

One question you had, I don't think got answered yet: is $100 a fair price? and I say yes, very good. $100 for a working machine is almost always a good price.
