I'm interested in pictures/layouts. I'm likely moving into a different house soon, and I'm thinking of taking a couple bays out of the garage strictly to build an arcade room. I haven't done any layout yet. . just curious what that looks like for other people if you have pictures.

Thanks!
Gary

you mean you'll actually have space for games?

Yes, if our offer goes through.

We'll have two three-car garages and a 2500 square ft (but not rectangular by any stretch of the imagination) basement. I think the basement will turn into a mother-in-law house for my folks. In one garage, we'll have one stall for my folks and the other two for arcade games. In the other garage, we'll have two stalls for our cars and one for storage, etc.

I think I'll set aside a small space in the arcade stalls for my workbench. We'll eventually finish the garage so that it looks like a proper arcade.

I renovated an enclosed my two car garage to make my game room, check out my web page for videos and pictures etc...

Wow! Very inspirational!! I'm now convinced that a two-car garage is enough. :)

Where in the great white north are you? :). I wouldn't mind checking it out before doing mine if you aren't too far.

I can't be the only one who thinks the games should go in the basement and the mother-in-law in the garage, can I?

The thought has crossed my mind. :)

I'm thinking that I don't really want more than a two-car garage worth if games, and I like the fact that it is a rectangular room and easily accessible.

I am located close to Prince Rupert BC feel free to come by, bring the family!

Are you already working on the list of games to fill the future space?

I've got a large 2 car garage and it sucks!! Too many games on the want list...not enough space. I'm super envious of you lucky bastards with 3, 4 car garages or the 3000 sq ft basements!

You have 27 machines on your VAPS entry. . . is there not enough space for those, or is there other stuff in there too? Curious because I don't know how much I'm going to be able to fit in there comfortably yet.

The garage I'm in is an oversized 2 w/storage cabinets where I keep parts and my pcb collection. We're house shopping so I've been meaning to take measurements to make sure the new house matches or exceeds it. Its pretty packed but I don't have all my games. 4 (Pole Position, star wars, zookeeper, spyhunter sitdown) are offsite awaiting restoration. With another 4 incoming (frontline, mad planets, black widow, asteroids deluxe). Getting rid of 4 games (Dragons lair, crystal castles, crazy climber ur and a lesser condition AD) so the net gain will be 4. Crossing fingers it will all fit. Certain it will but it will be tight. I can take some pix of current setup to give idea, but things are abit messy as I'm restoring afterburner deluxe atm. My lineup is has some odd games that suck up large chunks of space:
afterburner deluxe 6'x8'
spyhunter sitdown
warlords cocktail
crazy climber cocktail
3 candy cabs (wide)

I think for standard uprights, you could arrange 25 fairly easily with space to move around comfortably. I'll be close to 28-29 with some space gobblers so it won't be ideal. I've been to friends arcades where there are less games but the space is opened up and its much nicer than the claustrophobic setup I have, heh. Less is more, but There are just too many great games to be had!

Here are a few pic's of a garage that is almost done, still need carpet and lighting. Then we are going to cut a archway in the wall from the other game room. I have 4 pins and a Babypac pin, and 25 games in there. and still have room to get around. The room is 18x24.

It doesn't matter how big the basement is it's still not big enough. Or maybe me want list is to big not sure which. Put the inlaws in the garage and enjoy the basement when it gets full move some to the garage and call them gifts.

Ok so here's a sketchup file of a place I'm considering, if my measurements are correct (everything is ballparked).. it looks like all my existing games minus one or two will fit right in. In the laundry room I thought about a cafe table or a bar with a megatouch somehow, then I'd dump my UR megatouch for an extra game or two.

Thoughts? Opinions? I really want a much bigger place like everyone else, but honestly I dont think I want any more games than this, although an air hockey or pool table would be awesome. I'd have a nice size garage that I could expand into if I had to, but it'll mainly be used for tinkering and my car, so that leaves this room dedicated to just the game room.

You can always export as a 2D JPG file and post that... much smaller and many more people (without sketchup) can see your file...
