Any tips on removing joysticks from Karate Champ upright

seems simple. but there is a cover on top of the control panel that seems stuck on. should this come loose since the joystick is unbolted from the bottom? i have a new CPO, and it's just weird the way this panel is put together. even the 1 and 2 player buttons needed a lot of tapping to pop out of the hole.

thanks.

With them unbolted are the bases still stuck to the underside of the control panel? They don't wiggle at all?
I think the hole in the control panel is large enough for the ball on the stick to pass through,s so you shouldn't have to take the stick apart.

I think what you are calling dust plates are actually a non moving part of the base- those look like coin control sticks.

Feel free to take more pictures of where things stand at the moment.
