I've accumulated many misc. small electronic parts from fixing my machines over the past few years. I do have a few sets of small plastics drawers, but the number of components outnumbers the number of drawers. Also, most components where I have 1 or 2 spares of something are not worthy of their own drawer. A few times now I've rebought things only to discover I already had some

What do you use for sorting and storing small parts?

I use the clear flat fishing tackle boxes from Bass Pro shops. I find that I can get more one off items to use less space and I label the cover with what I have.

Keep a excel/word table document with a list of all the parts & (# of units of each part) that you have. Helps to keep track of what you already have so you don't accidentally re-purchase something you don't need. Or spend too much time looking for something you thought you had, but didn't.

Date at the top of list, the last time you updated it.

Keep the parts list print out taped to the drawer or something.

Good luck.

Thanks all for the ideas. I'll be incorporating a few of these for storing my stuff.

I also just found that an old zip up CD binder is pretty good for storing chips stuck in foam squares.
