Hi all, my collection is acting up .. or not acting at all - dead tempest, Asteroids w/ power issues, JROK w/ bad monitor, that kind of thing.

My regular tech (Sarah) seems no longer to make housecalls, anyone know of a local repair maven?

Wish there was a sticky for this, I'm sure it would be helpful to lots of non-techies.. Many thanks.

Problems just keep cropping up, 1980-era electronics and all. I started buying these things assuming i could find someone to fix them, but since I can't the whole hobby is in jeopardy.

Anyone wanna trade a working-last-month-but-not-now Tempest plus a working-but-buzzes-loudly Asteroids for a nice standup A-Deluxe? (or better yet one of those 3-1 things:

, anyone have one of those yet?)

Neacf is a good place to start.

Welcome to life with 30 year old games. I have a BattleZone that blows monitor fuses, an Omega race that now has flakey vectors and a star trek with no signs of life. I just take it slow and eventually they get fixed.

Your neighbor to the north in Rochester.

Well for many of us, this is just a hobbie. It can be a pain at times but it is a labor of love.

The problem is not finding someone to fix them, the problem is getting someone to make a house call and with the part(s) that may or may not be needed. If I were closer I could look at it and take some voltage measurments, but you could do that. If you have no clue as to what to check, call a local tv repair man. He should have the basic tools and knowledge to get you started in the right direction.

I would like to b of more help but I live in Maryland Eastern Shore so it would be a strech for me.

What happend to Sara? She would be a much better looking tech than I.

Sara doesn't make house calls anymore. PinWiz keeps her really busy. This guy would have to take his games to her and it doesn't sound like he can or want to do that.

Some of us local NEACF guys may be able to help.

Many thanks folks, I joined up at NEACF, looks like a great site. Here's my intro:

What a great forum this is, I hate to abuse it by asking stuff like "so my Tempest is dead, how do I fix it" .. I get the sense i'll have to take the plunge & learn the basics if I want to keep the arcade rolling. Regards -t

Asteroids

I've got a couple asteroids power supplies.. I can rebuild one up for you and drop it in the mail.. I'm in western MA.

In case anyone doesn't know what PinWiz is, she recently opened a huge arcade called Pinball Wizard, with several hundred vids and pins, both classic and recent.
