I need to fix some coil issues with my Data East Tommy. I'm tired of messing with this myself and am ready to hire somebody to come over and get this working 100%. I'm actually going to be selling the game soon if anyone is interested (would also sell/trade it as-is for a lower price). I like the game but I'm out of room for pinball machines.

Anyway, does anyone have any suggestions for techs in the area? Or does anyone have any experience with any of the following I found online?

Thanks for any input.

Get in touch with the fspa at fspazone.org. It's a local pinball league, formed 16 years ago, lots of members own pins and fix them. They can give you some good info.

I had heard good things about pinballpaul and I referred him to a co-worker looking to fix a jukebox and EM pinball. My co-worker seemed happy with the repairs.

And yes, you should come visit us (fspa). League nights are Monday nights 8p at John's Place Bar in Fairfax. Stop by and play as a guest even if you don't join us for a full season.

crazyflipper.com is my site. I don't go as far as VA for repairs, but what you should do is pull the PPB (board in the lower left corner of the backbox as if you were facing the machine), and reflow all header pins and the relay. If that doesn't fix it, replace that board with a Rottendog. I would bet a Chinese lunch that the problem is on that board.

...that is, if your problem is coils working intermittently.
