what cool nos or similar condition parts/artwork you guys have come across, have laying around or put in your games? I'm outta space so have been focusing on fixing and restoring what I have and have devolved from game to parts collector.. And get excited over parts these days. Parts is a weird sub category of collecting, but I get this "Yeah!!! Alright!!" feeling like finding a treasure, heh. Does this happen to you? The bummer is parts can cost
more than the games :(

Yesterday poking around vintagearcade in glendale, found nos tapper spigot handles and a complete nos frontline spinner control w/decal. When Gene pulled it out and blew the dust off it, it reminded me of finding a Genies lamp, lol.

What cool things have you found?

I guess you could consider me a bit of a parts junkie. I have a few pieces of NOS or repro artwork that I haven't installed or don't even have the machine to put it on. It can be fun to collect that stuff for sure.

As a matter of fact, yes. He has 4 left :) $25 each. but its just the handle with no decal or the rest of the joytick. Do the handles get worn? I don't have a tapper yet but the parts freak in me couldn't resist.

Tom

Did he have any more of the Tapper handles? :)

Thanks man, unfortunately I prob overpaid at $300, but its in great shape. There fire sticks a little but should be ok with some lube. The turning gears feel great though. An electrician friend tagged along on my visit and couldn't believe anyone would be silly enough to pay that for a switch. Tapper handles were $25 each.

Nos Taito spinner= Very Nice!!!!!

I understand completely. I have a collection of marquees for machines that I will never own and keep getting bits and pieces thrown into parts buys. Once I ran into a random box of semiconductors on Ebay and couldn't resist. Since then I have probably used 10x the value I paid in parts out of that box. I think it is the "just in case" gene that some of us have. If it is something cool we justify it by saying "someday I might need that".

This reminds me of the 90's when warehouses were still plentiful. I remember one in particular that had a whole room of motherboards. I walked right past those silly things to look at all the cabinets. I could not figure out why my friend who was a lot more seasoned at raiding warehouses spent so much time worrying about what was in that "dumb room".
If I could turn back time...

hmmmm... There's a WMS coin door shell with the paper still on that's waiting for a worthy project.

There's a drop target for Star Pool - for when the used ones are gone.

Saturday's mail brought a box of RCA Numitron tubes - in case Super Flipper pops a display.. or I decide to build a clock.

I don't really horde exta parts for my machines, but I have been gathering a small collection of cool vintage aftermarket modifications for my machines.

I have a complete NOS MS Pac Speed-up kit, the one that adds a button to the CP for a temporary speed-up.

I have a rapid fire add on board that works on Defender, and assumable other games as well.

I have a kit that allows for adding a second game to a cab and then swapping between them by the push of a button, designed for route operation.

I have a few other things like these as well, but I can't remember what they are right now.

I'm sitting on a stack of NOS artwork I haven't found the time to scan or use yet, but was too good to pass up. Complete set of the yellow/black conversion artwork for SFIICE, with an extra CPO and marquee, a NOS Bloodstorm CPO decal set and the crown piece (for me), a NOS Bloodstorm sideart set still in the tube it originally shipped from Strata in. Really need to figure a good way to get everything flatter or maybe put an extra piece of glass on the scanner bed or something to get all of this stuff scanned as none of it is in the archives of scanned artwork as far as I have found.

Mylstar hooked me up with several cool items recently: a nos plastic seat and steering yoke for spyhunter..and a nos frontline monitor glass. A few months before that I found a nos monitor plexi for afterburner deluxe...then my game died, heh. still smarting from missing out on cnlmoores berzerk cpo run and nos qbert joysticks when mylstar had them :(
