Any Nintendo Restorations in the works for Anybody?

ooohh I see a punchout....

I think I am probably done with ninty cabs, except maybe a Mario Kart when they come down in price.

Right now I am waiting for the sega vector multigame to come in the mail and install it in my Star Trek. I read through the installation instructions today. I wish had the two other sounds boards for it, but I believe a sound board for all the games is in the works for this year...

Yeah I got that Punchout working, started bondoing the cab and restored the control panel. That's as far as I've gotten. Maybe I should do these Nintys as a package deal.

Ive got a line on a DK, but haven't quite sealed the deal yet. Im stoked too, cause I love Ninty cabs. Ive only ever gotten to work on one, but was never able to finish it before I had to sell it...

Are the nintendo cabs originally Painted? They seem more like a laminate veneer or something.

I wish I had a gimp in the gayrage that did my dirty work while I was gone. I envy you.

My Red Tent is the next on my list. I'm collecting the parts I need right now and plan on getting started soon. So far I have collected:
-2x marquee plexi as mine are busted up
-2x tinted monitor plexi as mine are both badly scratched
-2x cp overlays as mine are scratched up
-a few new buttons to swap out for some of the ones on there

I also have the parts to rebuild the sticky joysticks

I am probably going to have the cab sandblasted and painted by a local guy who does car restorations. He gave me a great price on the project as he wants to do it just to say he's helped restore an arcade cab. I'll probably have that done sometime in the next month.

Regardless, I'll get some before/during/after pics up once I get further into it.

Yeah its something like that. It's definately not just paint applied normally. There doesn't seem to be any consensus on how the original finish was done. That's the main reason I haven't done anything with my red cab DK. I'm afraid that the painted finish won't do justice to the original.

Here's my starting point. I think it's a DK Jr. that was converted to VS. I thought the t-molding was offset at first, but it isn't. Still deciding what to do with it.

Why not restore it to a Jr? I did that to a far worse (and the wrong) cabinet and it turned out great:

Cabs

we just did 3 cabs, 1 orange DK3 cab, 1 DK blue cab and did the darker blue DK2 cab. We did all the sanding and body work and had a freind spray them. Full primer, all color and all the black on front, top and backs. We are picking them up sunday and will install side art at his shop. My DK 2 art package is on standby waiting to get installed.
FYI I posted all 3 of the color codes for the paint a while back, Lowes color codes.
I can re post if anyone needs them.

EDIT:

I am thinking you should swap positions so that Radarscope and DK3 are next to each other. Those games are so similar, funny it took me until recently to realize it.
