Any Nintendo Restorations in the works for Anybody?

I have been slacking on my Ninty restos lately and decided that I should probably start tackling them again as time allows. First up, a converted DKjr. I picked this one up nearly 3-4 years ago already and have so far removed most of the black paint and begun the sanding process. Here's the before, days after I picked it up (yes, they even conveniently painted the t-molding for me):

I hope to have it ready for paint by the weekend. Anybody else in the throes of a Ninty resto?

I JUST started a Nintendo VS Resto last night, just got the first application of bondo on.

I need to get started on my DK. I haven't ever worked on a Nintendo. From what I recall, you don't want to attempt to take all of the "paint" off, yes?

Are you planning on using vinyl on this one? Rolled on paint? Or are you going to try the sprayer out on this one?

No need to sand the paint off, it provides a smooth base. I will be spraying this one.

I am swapping cabs from one PC-10 cab to another, replacing T-Molding, hopefully monitor bezels, and replacing all of the guts form one to the other. Not a true restore but close enough.

By the way Fader, you're still coming out Sunday, yeah? I'll be taking an hour to snow blow another path for you (the original one got covered and drifted over) and I wanna make sure you'll be able to make it this time.

I've done a DK and a DK jr. I don't play them very much though. I was thinking of keeping the DK and letting Jr go to help free up some space for the pins I need to fit in the lineup. I've been slowly moving towards a 25% pin, 75% vid line up.

I like the fact that the nintendo games are not very heavy, and that every part is easy to obtain when doing a resto.

Yes, I'm still planning on it, I think the weather is supposed to be better. I got all of my tires fixed (Had a bead leak from the cold.) I'll shoot you a call or text saturday, to make sure the weather and roads are doable up that way.

Sounds good, my boy's 2nd birthday party is at 3pm Sunday, so I'd like to have it wrapped up before then so I can help with prep and cleaning, etc.

In the middle of a DK restore. It was still a DK when I got it, just rough around the edges. No major cabinet work, just a few holes and on the side near the CP where it looks like a dog or something chewed on it.

Rolled on the paint a month or so back and just a week or so back sprayed the black parts. Its amazing how different the cabinet looks with the top and back repainted as well!

I painted the wooden part holding the bottom of the bezel - the black pieces were pulled off in chunks. Painting turned out better than I would have thought.

I stripped the coin door and I guess its on to the CP and then the monitor (capkit).

Got a Dokert wire harness to convert it to edge connector so I can switch over to DK Jr. until I get a DKJr cabinet.

Picked up some new coin acceptors as the others were trashed.

I guess I'll post a restore thread over in the Restoration forum soon.

I have a VS conversion I'm slowly working on, it was a DK originally but I am wanting a DK JR bad so I'm on the fence about it :(

This one has been a bitch. I really wanted an original DKjr cab to restore, cuz the last DKjr I restored was actually converted from a Vs. machine that was itself originally a converted blue Donkey Kong. Starting with an 'orange' cab should have been easier. Right? Well, I've gone from this:

To this:

In 4 years. And I still have 3/4 of the cab to sand, then disassemble, then paint, then reassemble, etc. Sonofa.

I am slooooooowly working on my Vs. Castlevania.
I do have a Nintendo Punch Out! coming in about a month. That will be a bit more work.

This is not filling me with the inspiration I need......:p

This beaut is next after the Major Havoc conversion restore. I've had all the parts for a while now just can't get motivated. I'm still unsure about how to proceed. It bugs me that I'll have to paint and most likely vinyl over the original finish. Would you or wouldn't you cover it? It's really my only option I suppose. Check out that single slot coin door and 5 slot grill.

ooohh I see a punchout....

I think I am probably done with ninty cabs, except maybe a Mario Kart when they come down in price.

Right now I am waiting for the sega vector multigame to come in the mail and install it in my Star Trek. I read through the installation instructions today. I wish had the two other sounds boards for it, but I believe a sound board for all the games is in the works for this year...
