I got a ms pac cocktail that I'm thinking about putting a 48:1 in (set to play a bunch of pacs only) since the multi pacs are crazy expensive and my current board seems to reset after 10 mins (posting soon in repair forum for that after I read through the other 10 millions posts on 'ms pac resetting'..

Question is, not having a high score save really annoys me and the 48:1 I have only saves numbers but not initials...Anyone know of a decent multi that saves HS?

Thanks!

Get a 60-in-1. They certainly save high scores and seem to be of greater quality than the 48-in-1's. (My last 48-in-1 lasted about 2 months before completely crapping out.) :(

Doyle's saves high scores but share high score boards... so FAST/NORMAL setting games use the same high score board. Same with the different mazes... which sort of sucks, but is supposed to be updated soon from what I read.

I believe the update has already happened. There are now separate HS for fast and slow.

If it has, I've not seen any announcement for it. I know just about a month ago he was talking about getting to that update as soon as the Exidy boards were done?!

Mike?! Available?! If so... how much for us who already have the kit?

60 in 1's do not really keep high score.

It does hold the top score on some games, but it never keeps the initials.

Yeah, I set the dips. Still doesn't save. Not too big of a deal. Just a little irritating is all.

Could just get the 4 in 1, the codes out there, it's free and only takes about 10mins to install. Add on the NVRAM save adapter, the total price for a 4 in 1 + score save kit comes to under $30.

I think there's a new Multi-Pac in the works right now, there's a thread on it somewhere around here. Has Pac-Man, Pac-Man Fast, Ms. Pac, Ms. Pac Fast, Pac Plus, Pac Plus Fast, Ms. Pac Plus, etc etc... I think they're working on cramming a few more games in there as well, and the board is supposed to incorporate the HSS features as well... might be worth holding out for.

Beats fully emulated games IMO. No point in getting a 48/60 in 1 when you're going to be turning off most of the games anyways. I'd hold out to see what comes of this new kit... should be cheaper than the multicade boards.

The thing that makes me prefer the 60-in-1 is being able to have Jr. Pac in with Pac, Ms. Pac, and Pac Plus. (If you're a fan, Super Pac is a nice addition too.)

Jr. Pac is...oh...what do the kids say? "TIGHT".

Yeah, I love Jr. Pac too... actually just picked a copy up for my 2600 (GREAT port BTW).

But I'm all about saving a penny where I can. ... Super Pac, I can easily do without. :p

Heh, I just got one of those too, at a classic gaming show yesterday for a buck :D

Anyway, back on topic, you shouldn't worry about the 48-in-1's and 60-in-1's not saving initials if you're only enabling the Pac games. The only Pac game on there that even has initials is Super Pac. Pac, Ms Pac, Jr Pac and Pac Plus only have a high score, no initials. The 48/60-in-1's save the top score, just no initials. I like Super Pac, but the one on those boards is the Namco ROMset, which the Super mode runs alot faster than on the Midway one (which would be the one that was the most common one here in the Us). It's so fast it's almost uncontrolable.
