I picked up a pachinko machine with a Nugget candy vending machine at a garage sale for $30 and they both have sat in the dining room for months. The pachinko was untested because the previous owners didn't have the power adapter and they threw in a bag of what they said were the balls for it. When I got home I realized the balls they gave me were not pachinko balls. They were too big. I don't know what they were for. Everything worked fine on the candy machine and came with the key. I read into the pachinko power adapter and found out that none of the old machines have a power adapter and the power wasn't actually needed for play. It was just to work 2 light bulbs that went off when the balls were out in the back or when you hit a jackpot. I dug out my box of random AC adapters and found one that was suitable. Wired the machine up and found one bulb was out.

The machine sat in the dining room for probably a month and a half before I bought some bulbs. After getting the bulbs the machine sat for another month. I had seen some small rubber grommets at the hardware store and picked up some of those for the light sockets as the foam that was in there originally had disintigrated in my hands when I checked the bulbs for the first time. I finally bought a small bag of 200 pachinko balls and when they arrived I tried the machine out. It works fine, but I didn't buy enough balls. I bought a box of 500 balls and they arrived today. I loaded up the machine and everything works great. It is a lot of fun. I never hear of pachinko owners on this site (so speak up if you got one). My daughter loved playing the game until she hit a jackpot. She hit the jackpot and I told her to watch the light come on and then the bells in the machine chimed in and it scared the crap out of her. She got up, ran, and hid behind her toy box. She didn't want to play anymore tonight. She'll get over it. I have to move the machine into the game room now because she really likes the small, shiny pachinko balls. She's 2 by the way.

No pics but I have four pachinko machines. The first one was a gift from my in-laws. It is very similar to the one you have pictured. The other three are each a little newer.

One has an odd area in the middle where a ball is dropped following a jackpot and a series of magnets energizing causes the ball to dance around. It has a golf theme.

The third machine has a small LCD, maybe 4" and the theme escapes me at the time.

The fourth machine is an Indiana Jones themed machine.

My three year old likes all of them but the Indy machine gets most of her attention.

I think I have 3 of them(older style), one is different. You have to open up the bottom catches and then it opens up one on the side. If you make into the side, it rides down on an elevator and you jackpot. If people are interested, I will try to post pics of it next time I get a chance.

not mine, but I think its like this one.

I got a newer style one with an LCD. Theres so many styles out there. When I get home I'll post some cool links. There some awesome machines out there. I want more since you can mount them on the wall or just stand them on a shelf. Lots of fun. The only problem is the newer ones need a lot of balls when you hit the fever and recycling them yourself isn't always fun

I also enjoy pachinko! I now have three of them and they're the newer models with the LCD screen: Freddy VS Jason, Looney Tunes and Tom and Jerry. Even though they're all pretty close in age, the gameplay is a bit different between them. Freddy VS Jason is pretty straight with nothing too fancy; Looney Tunes added some animatronics that are pretty cool; Tom and Jerry has a bunch of animatronics and definitely gets the adrenaline flowing the most. The only bugger with these newer machines is that you should have a good 2000+ balls on hand for when you hit the fever round. It really goes through them quickly!

Check out www.pachitalk.com if you're interested in pachinkos and pachislos. There's a great group of people over there and they're all very friendly. Well worth the visit!

I have a Pachinko machine, but it doesn't really work. Balls seem to get stuck in the back of the machine. I have no idea how to fix it, and I don't know if the parts are even all there. For sure, the power for the lights was cut, it just has 2 wires hanging loose. It's sitting around as decoration...

Any troubleshooting tips?

Edit: Looks like I registered & started a thread on Pachitalk 5 years ago, but never followed through....time flies.

If the balls are getting stuck or wedging in the tracks going from the top container down into the win queue, chances are the lid to the tracks are missing. I had one at home for years that did that until I put a little piece of cardboard held in by a bunched up napkin. Worked like a champ. I now got a second freebie one, and realize that lower part of the track is supposed to have a cover on it, so my cardboard piece was the proper fix! (and I think i did that at a rip age of 6).

Also if the balls are rusty or dirty, try to pick out the bad ones or just get all new ones. Not much you can do to save them other than maybe tumbling them.

The lighting is overrated. I wouldn't bother on the older games unless you really need to. The upper left corner light should show that the game is available to be played (it will go out if the hopper up top goes empty). The upper left light flashes when you win.

Plenty of love for Pachinko. I have 5. One old mechanical one like yours, one that was the "bridge" to the modern ones (it has an electric shooter and a small LCD screen) and 3 modern ones: StarWars, Indiana Jones and Lord of the Rings.

If you need help fixing or cleaning your machines there is an internet board www.pachitalk.com that can help you.

There was this 'mancave' type superstore that sold them here locally, alongs with those awesome Pachinslot machines, which are simply japanese style slots machines. I bought one of the pachinslot and its honestly the most played game when people come over.

The guy had dozens and dozens of them, but last time I went there, he had gotten rid of them because customers would be too dumb to figure out how to maintain them and do basic stuff like resetting the machine when it tilts.

its a shame because those machines are super colorful and very nice, especially the newer models with lcd screens built in.

I wish I could find a source in canada!

I have one vintage (similar to yours) and one modern named Julie with a pinball theme. Julie is a, how do I say, less than masculine Japanese singer. Think Michael Jackson without little kids. The jackpots are pretty wild with a mini pinball playfield in the middle that you control the flippers. The depth of play and the complexity of that machine always amazes me. I also have one Pachislo with a fighting theme.

I have three of them, all from the 1960s, all work, all of them wrapped up and stacked in the back of the garage. No room.

I'll throw a quick plug into this thread...

www.akimono.com

I've bought machines from Frank and he is absolutely fantastic. He is currently taking orders now until the end of September on ones to be imported from Japan.

On a side note, I am not an employee or relative or associated with them at all. I'm just a VERY happy customer!!

those 60s/70s pachinko machines are what got me interested in buying "other gameroom stuff" and the rest is history hehe..

OVer the years ive gifted them all to my father, he loves em.
