any love for dk3???

Stanley rules! :) I'm one of those people that really likes the "red-headed step-child" of the series. My Arcade Legends machine has it, and I play it from time to time. I like it better than DK Jr. (mostly b/c I suck at that game). If I were to come across the real cab for a good price, I probably wouldn't think twice about making an offer.

The tips in this thread make me want to fire it up and try it out again. I was always looking to better my score on that game.

23 posts and no pictures of this fine game? What is wrong with you people?

What sucks is that I play DK3 on my Multi-DK cab (AS board). Unfortunately there is a DK3 sound missing on the AS board... the bug that drops down the side and then shoots across is supposed to have a funky buzz type sound... the AS board is silent. Argh! That is one of the more important sounds as it indicates one of those bastards are coming.

It won't be getting fixed anytime soon either unfortunately... SCREW YOU CLAY COWGILL!!

I don't even try points whoring at the beginning. I blast DK's ass as fast as I can on every level because IMHO it's mind numbingly easy/repetitious in the beginning. Only becomes fun when you hit the levels where the blue bugs show up dropping down and come across the screen at you.
DK3 is still a great game all in all.

And Phet - super lame you went to all the work to make an imitation red cab and don't even have blkdogs DK3 instructional sticker on it. For shame you bastard.

I have it, but I refuse to install it until he finishes work on the Popeye instruction sticker.

A guy I buy from locally has been sitting on 4-5 of these for the past few months and I always wondered why. He sells DK1's like hotcakes,DKJ is is second best seller but no one seems to want the DK3's at all. Now I know why. I just watched a vid of the game in action and it does'nt look fun at all and seems repetitive from level to level. I'd like to own all three Dk's but I don't think I could stomach paying more than $200 for a working DK3,maybe even $200 is pushing it?

Since they are all conversions these are likely just DKs and DK Jrs. If he has one in nice shape that's got an orange plywood cab (as opposed to particle board cab) let me know. I would probably pay $200 for it. I'm a few hours from Frederick.

The level where he throws the coconuts is like the rivet level in DK. You push him to the top, he gets his head stuck and falls to the floor, just like in DK. The other levels he escapes, also just like in DK. Looks like the same progression of screens as in DK also, although I haven't gotten far enough in DK3 to know for sure.

There's 3 main screens. The one you start with (with 4 complete rows), a similar one, but with a break in the middle of the top row, and the one with the vines across the center with the worms (the only one he throws coconuts on until later). The first time, you only get the 1st and 3rd one, after that, they alternate between the 3 (in the order I listed). It just adds more stuff (or replaces existing bugs with harder ones) after the 3rd one in the series until it maxes out on difficulty (somewhere in the upper teens). Hope that made sense ;)

It really could use some more levels!!! DK has 4 and so does DK jr. Seriously, this game could be so much better. It would be awesome if there was a stage where you had to help Mario get DK. And one where Jr and DK attack you at the same time. Like in the Original Game Boy version of DK

Or its spiritual successor: Mario Vs. Donkey Kong (Game Boy Advance)

I must admit, as huge of a Donkey Kong fan as I am, DK3 just doesn't feel like it belongs in the series and I hate playing it. I can't even stand the music in the game.. :(

I found it interested that when Namco did the DK reunion cab, they did DK, DKjr, and SMB, and not DK3.. and I'm glad they did.

Mario Bros was the 3rd game on that Namco cab. Why do people confuse the 2 so often? Super Mario Bros is a completely different game, one best played sitting down.
