All I know is like Donkey Kong, the Jungle Hunt port to Colecovision was way better@Hookindafoot
Atari licensed Jungle Hunt for their home computers and consoles. They later created a separate division (AtariSoft) to release home versions for competitors' computers and consoles.

Doesn't matter, the simple fact was that by 1983 the 2600 had gotten a bad reputation for bad popular game ports. They were essentially over. You're comparing apples and oranges, as the saying goes. VCS Donkey Kong is only 4K and the programmer did the game in a mere 3 months. The programmer asked for more memory and time and was confident he could have included the other 2 screens, but he wasn't given it. Colecovision Jungle Hunt is 24K. The VCS was also released in 1977 whereas the Coleovision was released in 1982 and was literally next-gen hardware.
VCS Pac-Man was just a lousy version, done by a programmer who didn't care much for the original game. VCS Ms. Pac-Man came out a year later with 2x the memory and was done by the same folks responsible for the original Ms. Pac-Man.
I had never owned any Atari games or Atari consoles until I had the expansion port 1 for the ColecoVision.Doesn't matter, the simple fact was that by 1983 the 2600 had gotten a bad reputation for bad popular game ports. They were essentially over.
Good luck getting a parent to buy a ColecoVision or Intelevision after kids had probably just gotten a 2600 a year or 2 earliear. The 2600 was toast. I wouldn't even of attempted it.

Yeah, Colecovision was pretty cool to have in 1982. Didn't have many friends that had it, but you could tell the games had better graphics and gameplay. The writing was on the wall for the 2600 after Colecovision came out.I had never owned any Atari games or Atari consoles until I had the expansion port 1 for the ColecoVision.![]()
