So i picked up this Soul Edge super cheap yesterday but i highly doubt it was originally a souledge, let alone any namco system 11 game like a Tekken. So this is the first machine ive had where the control panel slides out and and the tray has the pcb, power supply, etc. all on it. I had to take off the control panel to fix some button issues and noticed that it was originally a 3 player 3 button game converted into the 2 player 4 button soul edge layout. This would explain the funky angle of the joysticks and buttons. The back of the cab has an atari serial plate but i couldnt find any indications of what game came in it originally. This pic is of the CL post, im at work and was bored so i made this post but i can put up some other pics tonight. Just curious if anyone had any ideas before i try and strip the black paint to see if any side art exists.

Maybe Gauntlet Legends?

EDIT: I was wrong. Pit-Fighter. This is one of those cases where the conversion is a much better choice. :D

And it makes an AWESEOME Mame cab. VERY easy to work on, and tons of room for controls. Also uses a K7xxx monitor, which is easy to work on.

Great cabinet. Heavy (after all it's Atari) but great.

Any time you see this cabinet for anything less than $200 - you should get it, like RIGHT now. The pull out tray makes it super easy to swap in JAMMA games too. Such a versatile cab. I wish I had one.

My buddy dlbagna has one, and he's nearly done with his MAME cab conversion. It looks friggin SWEET.

Sheesh... late to the party I see.

;)

Rampart has a thicker control panel.

By thicker do you mean that it is deeper under the actual CP? When I picked up my Rampart it was standing right next to a Pitfighter and I didn't notice any difference, but I wasn't really looking for differences either.

Yeah... at least according to the photo here... it appears the control panel is "deeper" as in "vertically" deeper...

Maybe a bad angle?

Well, my machine will be at the Seattle show this year, maybe a Pit Fighter will make it as well (I really doubt it) and I can compare them.

Wow thanks for all the quick replies. I snagged it for $150 and the monitor is great, but i probably wont restore to a pit fighter lol

Pit Fighter sucks, but 3 player Rampart is one of the best three player games around. Someone was selling a board in the For Sale section. Assuming the trackballs will fit it would be worth considering for conversion.

Great pickup & great price. I saw that one and kinda liked the look of the cabinet, but never contacted the seller on it.

my Street Fighter Alpha 3 is in one of those. only thing that sucks is the CP has been heavily modified (it's still the Pit Fighter 3 player wood) and it's laced with tons of plexi, so you can only use Happ Ultimates in it. :(

over time though, I got used to the joysticks. can only imagine how badass that would be with some IL Euros.

Personally i've never liked that cabinet, and felt it was god awful ugly, guess it makes sense having PitFighter in it (being a god awful game)
