Any good monitor recommendations?

for $199!!!

This is the one that I think will really be the best for a 25" monitor replacement....

28" Hannspree ST289MUB 1080p Widescreen LCD HDTV - 16:10 10000:1 (Dynamic) 5ms 2 HDMI ATSC/QAM/NTSC Tuners (Black)

Hows a 28" wide screen monitor supposed to fit in a 25" cabinet? You can just barely shoe horn a 27" CRT in there. I dont think theres enough room for a 28". Then you have to deal with the signal and how to modify it so that the 28" LCD will display it.

28" lcd monitor size just fits in the space of 25" crt

But you need to measure your cabinet.

I have one cabinet that is just over 25" wide and won't fit this...but the other is 27.5" wide and will fit. The 28" lcd is 26.5" wide and will fit.

I bot a 25" lcd 16x9 for the smaller of the 2 cabinets because it would not fit the 28". I got it at Geeks.com for $149 shipped. This cabinet is being converted to a 1315 in 1 and the lcd looks great with these games. You just have to set the display source type and no converter needed.

I did buy a converter for $40 from jammaboards.com. The larger cabinet will be a single game featuring Tekken 3, Street Fighter, or Mortal Combat boards I will rotate.:D

Has anyone tried out 8liners.com?

If you do a search here, there was a review of the 8liners chassis. General consensus was that it works OK, but the picture has a softer focus than a better monitor, and there was a fair bit more blooming[1] than some other monitors. So, it would be OK for some games, but more annoying for others.

If you're dead set on buying a brand new monitor, I'd say just go and buy one of the Makvisions from gamefixer. It won't be as nice as a K7000, but, I think it's probably as good as you're going to get if you really, really must have new.

[1] blooming - when the picture changes size depending on how bright the image being displayed is. So, when the game goes from a light scene to a dark scene, the whole picture changes size. It's caused by insufficient regulation in the B+ supply.
