I'm going to be traveling to Philadelphia in a few weeks. Are there any decent arcades in the area? I found Richie Knucklez Arcade but it is about 1.5 hours from where I will be.

Where in Philly? There's a Dave n Busters in the city ( and out here in the burbs) and I know of a few places that have a few games but D n B will be the biggest 'cade.

Depending on where you are in the area, the Pinball Parlour is pretty good. He's got a LOT of pins and good selection of vids. There are some issues with keeping them operational, but I know he's getting some help from some local folks. If it's near enough, check it out.

Thank you very much for the replies.

I wasn't coming up with much using Google. Those all look good. The Pinball Parlour and High Scores in particular. Pinball Parlour has Road Blasters and several pinball games I've never seen in person. High Scores has Defender, Star Wars, Robotron and Track and Field. About all I've seen in the Des Moines area is several Ms Pac Man/Galaga Reunion cabinets. Really looking forward to this triip.

Your best bet would be to drive to the Jersey Shore area from Philly. Anywhere from Pt Pleasant to Seaside. Tons of arcades on the boardwalk with classics etc. Probably an hour or so from Philly.

University Pinball is good if you like fighters and stern pinball.

Always decent competition in there too.

Neighborhood is a bit seedy but the University of Pennsylvania provides security on the streets.

If you are staying downtown, you can easily take a bus or cab.

I think I might try that. I've always wanted to see the Jersey Shore/Asbury Park area. Thanks.

If you want a drive, Challenge Arcade in Reading, PA is supposed to be decent.

There should be some good ones in Ocean City NJ on the boardwalk. Might want to try to hit up TNT Amusements if your out here I have never been there myself.

You're not really allowed to just hit up TNT as if it was an arcade.

There's reportedly a classic arcade in coventry mall, pottstown, but have not investigated yet.

I ended up going to Asbury Park (always wanted to see The Stone Pony) and spent a couple of hours at the Silver Ball Museum. It is on the boardwalk just of the Atlantic.

I haven't played that much pinball in 20 years. I would guess they had 80 machines and almost every one was in good working order. Thanks again for the idea.

I also went to Barcade a couple of nights. That was pretty awesome and I highly recommend it for anyone in the area. Beer and classic games is a great combination.

Asbury park has the silver ball museum.. tons of Pins. mostly 50's to 70's
but some 80's and 90's.

Yestercade's in Redbank, NJ (near the shore). Friends arcade.. very big..all classics.

High Scores in Burlington, NJ - I hate to disparage an arcade but I was kinda disappointed with this one. Really tiny. Wasnt worth the drive for me.

I've been to Dave & Busters in the city. they have a decent selection of modern games. Food.. not so good.

Havent tried that barcade in Philadelphia yet. I'll have to check that out.

Many of the jersey shore stuff on the boardwalk is closed up for the season.

You mentioned Richie Knuckles. His place is really nice and the games are in sweet condition, nice selection to. All classics.

I really wanted to hit Richie's arcade put unfortunatley only had one day where I could make a long drive. Barcade was just 10 minutes from the convention center.

Barcade had about 20 games. I believe the newest one was Smash TV.

I'm gonna have to check out that barcade the next time I am near PA.
They seem to have a nice collection.. plus Microbrews and Fish & Chips:)
