Taiko drumming?!The Fun Factory locations I've been to seem to usually have one of the Taiko Drum Machine games. I'll always play at least one game on those if I see one.
Amazing and troublesome.I started reading that thread and all I can say is Wow! Haven't read all 16 pages yet.
Finally and Amazing find in HAWAII
Finally an Amazing find in HAWAII Argh, up too late on call. and just excited about the auction today, "FINALLY AN AMAZING FIND IN HAWAII!!!" Check it out And by amazing I mean...absolutely unbelievable, here are the pics, more to follow... Suffice to say there will be a lot of NOS arcade...forums.arcade-museum.com
Hawai'i is now quite nearly devoid of original cabinets.
I am told there were as many here BITD as one would expect for a place that had a population of 800,000 or so (plus the ubiquitous tourist count) but I was still on the mainland tossing newspapers back then.
Most went to the landfill on the west side in the intervening years.
I got into the hobby too late here apparently.
This information could be wrong, but I was told that the last large operator auctioned the remaining cabinets extant maybe 6-8 years ago and they largely went to one person would moved back to the mainland with them.
There are a few Fun Factory joints scattered around but they mostly have the standard assortment of redemption and crane machines.
Nothing much fun by my standards of course.
I believe there are fewer than 100 real ones left in the state probably (jealously hoarded in private collections! hahaha)
I wanted to play these games and share them with my kids and then stumbled onto the hobby and learned about mame- so I started building mame boxes a few years ago.
We're up to 10 cabinets of various form factor in an assortment of mame, fpga, and now even a few real cabinets (which all need rehab!)
Wish there was more to preserve here, but I am satisfied with keeping the vibe alive with scratch builds while I wait for real ones to surface and be saved.

This is what I think about every time I think of collectors in Hawaii. Sure would love to know the story. Sure would love to have a shot at buying one of them.Maybe bobbyb13 knows about this, but there was a rumor floating around several years ago that there was a collector in Hawaii who had 10 or more EDOTs. I'm pretty sure i read that here, but i could've heard it from someone i repaired a pcb for.
You trying to tell me you think there are only 100 arcade games in all of Hawaii?
Rumor, sadly, and truly depressing for me because shortly it will be the last of my grail games as I will have scratch built the other 6 already.Maybe bobbyb13 knows about this, but there was a rumor floating around several years ago that there was a collector in Hawaii who had 10 or more EDOTs. I would say buyer beware... You don't know how they got there.... by plane, by boat, by Surf Board!! Or you find someone who has a brainwave that a surf board made from the side of a Ms. Pac cabinet would be the coolest thing going!!This is what I think about every time I think of collectors in Hawaii. Well if you need other games, and finding it hard to find, I have a contact who might be able to help you out.Rumor, sadly, and truly depressing for me because shortly it will be the last of my grail games as I will have scratch built the other 6 already.
