I contend that most any working video game is worth a buy if the price is right. Its good to have it for a bit and learn the game and decide whether its a keeper or not. Tell me your favorite game that you only kept for a short bit.

Mine is Mat-Mania. I've owned two of them. First time i let it go I was trying to downsize my collection as i had bought too much for my space in a small amount of time. I instantly regretted it. Found another one (in a different art package). And had it less than a year as I traded it in a lot deal for another game i wanted but couldnt afford for cash.

Im sure ill find another eventually.

UR Warlords. Maybe not as cool as the cocktail, but the cab is beautiful, has an amazing background, and is a blast to play with two people against the machine. I got a good price for it and needed the space, but regret selling it to this day.

Bank Panic. It's actually a really good game, not just for a short time. But I bought it cheap, cleaned it up (it was super nice), and sold it for a nice profit, not because I cared about the money (sold it under market) but because I didn't have any nostalgia for the game. My arcade is a nostalgia project. I have games that I don't like and never play (Missile Command, Zaxxon, Asteroids, Centipede) because any golden age arcade must have those titles. I prefer playing Bank Panic to any of those games, but it didn't fit my arcade because I have no recollection of ever seeing the game in arcades as a kid.

Intrepid. 🕵️ I deconverted a game with this in it and only played it for a few weeks, but it was an odd and interesting game, and I've had a weird little soft spot for it ever since. It was sorta like a Cold War PacMan mixed with Elevator Action, and was way better than I anticipated it would be. Sold the parts off and always sorta regretted it. My collection is too small & tight to justify it today, but I'd love if it came to the BitKit or something. 🤞

And it's Canadian!

not every game is good for a while. I bought a centuri the pit at the LA auction. never seen it before. it played blind. I tried to call a friend of mine to ask about it. but he did not pick up. got it since cab looked good. rebuilt the g07 and it was working.. played it 2 or 3 times, thought it sucked and sold it at cax.

Now the game I regret selling was a williams indiana jones pinball. I bought it from a friend $1200. I was driving it home and called another friend to tell him about it. He said, do you want to make $1k selling it? I thought maybe. So I took it to his shop. we set it up and I played about dozen games on it. I thought it was frustrating. I kept hitting the scoop to start the mode and it kept bouncing out. I figured cash me out, and I will get another pin. later another friend told me that the scoop welds break and it needed a repair to work properly.. So owning that one for about an hour was the one I misss. prices were going up on pins as williams pulled the plug and I never found another one.

Asteroids. I never even had the chance to play it. I just remember playing it. I made some good money on it and did not even have to touch it.

I've never really grabbed games solely for the sake of flipping them so I can't really contribute, here. 99% of the time I was grabbing games so my kids could live the dream.

Not judging in any way, some great posts in here!

^ This. I'm with THIS guy.

Not everybody has the skills to repair these things. Many people just want a working game. Generally looking down on flippers is short sighted.

Vid: Food Fight UR - it was very nice and fun, but the style didn't fit with my arcade and the game got a little monotonous after a bit. I only had it for maybe 6 months or less before selling
Pin: Banzai Run - really fun, I fixed it up nice and it was 100% working. I ended up moving it after having it less than a year simply due to fear of having to constantly be repairing it. It has two full size playfields and a lot of unique/complex parts...I frankly didn't want to have to deal with the potential future issues.

I miss them both, but am glad I don't own them anymore for the reasons mentioned.

I bought games back in the day that I could afford, rather than the ones I actually wanted (well, I still do that too, except now I buy broken versions of the games I want!)

I got a Mechanized Attack... it was sooo much fun! Until the fateful night my buddy and I loaded it with credits and beat the game... We should've waited and earned the win, but I can't imagine how long that would've taken on that quarter eater!

Tron

Never really got to play this one much BITD. Maybe only a handful of times, but I always remembered how cool it looked. I thought the light cycle sequence was awesome, too (mainly from the movie, I'm sure).

Found one local in great condition for the right price, and figured I'd have it forever. But after I got it, meh. Beautiful cabinet, but only kept it for about a month or so.

i don't consider myself a flipper. But I have bought and sold more than a few games. I never wanted to be in business with it as i think it would make me not enjoy the hobby of it. I have bought more than a few games to save them though. Either to clean em up and move them on. Or just to save them from a bad multicade fate.

I have saved several games from the muticade fate just to pass them on to others to enjoy more then myself. The game that stayed the shortest in my place that I enjoyed but never wanted to keep was a centipede cabaret.

With that said I have a puchout that is the least played game I own and have debated selling it but I feel like I would regret it if sold it.

It's interesting to me having been here so long how topics just keep getting recycled under different titles. I thought this thread sounded familiar, so I did a little searching and realized I'd posted one of these threads when I'd barely been here a year. The interesting part is my first post mentions two games that I've been kind of on the hunt for again. The same thing happened with my DK cocktail and my Tutankham. I wonder if we just never learn from our mistakes? Or if we mature as we're in the hobby longer?
