I'm in need of a new monitor on a Galaga cabinet and I don't have the skills or interest in replacing it myself. Is there anybody or any company that does this within a reasonable distance from Northern Virginia? Ideally, I'd like them to come to me because I don't want to have to transport the whole machine.

Also, how much do replacement monitors usually cost and what is a reasonable labor fee to have this done?

Thanks.

I can install the monitor, thats no problem at all. The hardest part will be finding a new monitor.
PM me your address and I will see how far you are from me.

Anybody else?

Does everyone just do their own repairs? How does anyone get their games fixed?

I think most people here do their own repairs or get a another collector to help.

Another KLOVer and I were discussing that we like working on games but that we think it would be difficult to make a living doing it. There are definitely people who do it but ...

whats wrong with the old monitor? Have you thought about having it fixed?

The current monitor made a clicking noise then POP! and the picture went out (followed by the smell of burning electronics). If I was looking to get it fixed I'd be in the same situation I'm in now in finding someone to fix it. The current monitor also has significant burn-in so considering something is broken anyway, I would prefer to just replace it with a new one rather than troubleshoot and repair it.
