I'm looking to change the pot and am wondering if anyone else has successfully done this? If so, what pot did you go with. I can get any old 1K but finding a gear on the end looks like it may be a pain to find. The manual just says "pot". It doesn't even have a value. The one in the machine, not original, is 1K ohms. Is this correct?

you can ask bob roberts, he usally has the value of those items, just make sure you buy it from him them!! lol

please post here if you get confirmation. I need to change one on my buddys game.

What exact game is it? Also if you look most of the pedals with pots...usually the gear has a little set screw or something holding it onto the shaft of the pot.

Also if you look at the back (or otherwise the casing) it usually has the value right on it.

the gear is pinned to the pot with a roll pin. Drive roll pin out, install gear on new pot shaft, redrill hole and reinstall pin.
I forget the ohm of the pot, either 5k or 10kohm iirc. Radio shack sells one that will work, its not the best, but its about 1/4 the cost of the original replacement.

Edit - just looked through my stash of pots - its 5k - i've got a couple new ones here in case mine gives me problems again.

Geez, man.

I gave you a couple of solid pages of excruciating detail and tips on how to change the pot and what to change it with in another thread last week where you were working on your buddy's Spy Hunter. It probably burned 45 min of my time writing it all up for you.

I've done it myself a couple of times now.

Please tell me I didn't completely waste my time.

not at all. I haven't been back yet. I only head to his place once a month or so.
and your work was well appreciated. I intend to pull it up on his computer when I get over there to do the work. when I saw this thread I couldn't remember off hand if you had indicated the pot value.
