Anyone here have a working Congorilla? I've got a couple questions. What does your PCB look like, who made it (Orca, Falcon, others?) And on the barrel board, is it missing a ladder on the 2nd row? I've seen 2 Congorillas on ebay in the last year or so, one had a youtube video linked, the other had pics of the game, and both had a ladder missing on the 2nd row of the barrel board. I've got a Falcon FCK-01 board that also has this version (that I've dumped the ROM's), and was wondering if that was actually the Congorilla version. This particular version isn't in MAME, and I want to submit the ROMset, but didn't want to say it came from Congorilla if it actually didn't :) I emailed a couple of VAPS members that had machines a little over a week ago, but never heard back from them. I'll include a couple screenshots running it in MAME (by replacing one of the existing ROMsets with mine) to show what I mean. 1st is the title screen (Crazy Kong. I don't think Congorilla actually said it in the game), 2nd is showing the barrel board and the missing ladder. 3rd is what a "normal" Crazy Kong barrel board looks like (from the Alca bootleg set) Thanks!

I always thought the only difference between Crazy Kong and Congorilla was the artwork on the cab, and that the ROMs were so completely identicle MAME didn't bother supporting it even as a clone.

Not an owner, but this is the version of "Kong" that I grew up playing since they had it at the corner deli. I could break 100k on this game pretty much every time.

When I finally got to play an actual DK, I got my ass whipped bad. On the Congorilla barrel level, if you went up the ladder and put a hand up to the level above, the barrels wouldn't come down the ladder. Not being able to do that on DK pretty much hosed my entire barrel level strategy. Don't think I could break 30K the first 15 times I played it.

I have a Congorilla cab that is now a Mr. Do.

If I remember correctly it still has the cardboard bezel.

I have a Congorilla kit that I have never actually installed in a cabinet. here are some pictures. Maybe the PCB picture is good enough to compare your PCB with.

The earlier DK board sets would let you use the barrel trick. I can't say they are easy to come by.

It's was a simple rom swap not actual board revision. I believe it's the Japanese version in MAME that contains this "bug". So with that being said if you wanted it you could burn your own proms.

@ OP - FWIW I have a Krazy Kong board set I'll never use lol

Thanks for the pics. Looks like a copy of the Falcon board with the standard Falcon pinout (I have 2 unmarked boards like that, both running Crazy Kong part 2. In fact, one is identical to that one, including not having the one edge connector cut out so you could actually plug a connector on it) The version I was expecting it to have would have 1 less EPROM (it only uses 13 instead of 14). So maybe it's not specific to Congorilla. Hopefully someone has one running.
