Any benefit to fuse replacement before they're blown?

I bought a Donkey Kong this month. Doesn't look like it;s had any work done to it in years. It works fine, but needs a cap kit and maybe a new flyback. Also the "thud" sound is intermittently gone.

Is there any benefit to immediately replacing all the fuses int he cabinet? None are blown, but they are probably old.

Anyone have a list of the fuses needed for a 2-board upright Donkey Kong?

Thanks!

Sure. You have to keep the fuse companies in business somehow - lest they stop making fuses. Buy lots and lots of fuses.

While you're at it, be sure to change all the light bulbs in your car.

But, seriously, no, there is no benifit. Unless the fuses are corroded or otherwise damaged, there isn't a reason to change them. Usually you put new fuses in Pac games simply because you're replacing the fuse holders too (which are often broken/corroded/crummy). Donkey Kong doesn't have those problems.

Also, none of your problems are fuse related.

Thank you. that's what I thought, but I wanted to make sure.

The benefit is they do tend to get corroded on the ends. This is mostly due to the older fuses having silver plate which tarnishes. Also fuses get fatigued every time its powered up. Sometimes you can watch the fuse element move when power is applied. After so many times it will eventually fail. That being said if a fuse blows it doesnt always mean there is a problem, fuses get tired. Not that it would really benefit you to replace them now rather than later but if your in there it would be extra insurance.
