Any Advice On Improving Gonbes Stability?

I've been trying to build a testing station that can be somewhat portable, which means not using a CRT. So I've been working with a Gonbes to convert the signal to VGA and have had big stability issues, but only with certain games. The image will freeze, stutter, jump and even go black and give a "no signal."

I haven't tried it extensively with lots of games as I've been too busy working on other stuff, but I tested two Splatterhouse boards on it and they were perfectly stable, but whenever I plug in my CPS2 it just loses its mind.

Here's what I've tried based off of various advice I've read regarding this exact problem and the manual:
I've got the Gonbes running off its own separate 5v DC converter rather than tapping into the switching power supply I've using for the boards so it has a stable voltage. It reads at 5.1v.

I've tried two different Gonbes versions, both have the same issue. One of them said it could take 5v or 12v, so I've tried both voltages. Same issue with both, though at first 12v seemed more stable.

I tried replacing the capacitor at C11 with a 22uf Tantalum capacitor, as per this page. No change.

I have pressed the down/auto key to try and fix it and also tried holding it down for five seconds to reset it. No change either time.

I've tried changing the resolution. No dice.

Does anybody have any other tips and tricks for the Gonbes? Is it not working with CPS2 games just a known issue I wasn't aware of? Is there a better converter? I wasn't able to find one. I feel like if I can get it stable with this, it'll be stable with most things and I won't feel like I've wasted all this time. Thanks for any help.

I do not remember exactly what I did at this moment but I changed some of the size and position settings and the converter stabilized and worked better. the problems I had before this adjustment were on med res games. if you need the settings I can look at my setup tommorow but they just need a little tweaking to fix the problem

Sure, I wouldn't mind those settings. It doesn't hurt to try. I can fiddle around with that some. I've tried changing the resolution before, but nothing else.
