Any advice on getting this control panel overlay cleaned off?

I snagged an Alpine Ski cp on eBay last week and it is in pretty decent shape. It has some cracking at the bend, but it cleaned up pretty well... all except the marks in the picture:

I first thought it was sharpie or some sort of marker, so I wrote on it with a sharpie in the corner, but it looked totally different. It had a purple hue to it AND it wiped right off.

I've cleaned it with everything you can think of and it hasn't budged- Magic Eraser, rubbing alcohol, simple green, windex, 409, novus, etc. I'm beginning to think it might just be rubs or scratches in the lexan.

I'm confident the rest of it will look decent after some wet look Armor all but I'd love some other ideas to try and remove these annoying marks...

those aren't going to come out, the texture of the overlay has been deformed by vandals!

pretty sure you're stuck with those ... but hey, that ain't too bad all things considered

Those are scratches in the polycarbonate laminate on the artwork. There's no repair for that.

Ugh, that's what I was afraid of. I'll give up on it and try some wet-look armor all to see if that lessens it.

I'd just get a "Taito" logo sticker in a color that matches the art package and cover it up with that.

I'm well aware of this, but I was trying to get away without spending an arm and a leg right out of the gate. I think it's a foregone conclusion though...

I didn't even know that it had been reproduced until I searched.

I'm curious to see what it would look like if you put Armor All on it or one of those automotive scratch repair pens.

Yeah, Fizgig was working on that art package prior to his exit from here. I can't bring myself to pull the trigger on it all though...

Take a big fat black sharpie permanent marker and color over the area.
Then immediately wipe it off with a paper towel.
Won't take them away but should make them less noticeable
I've done That on sides of cabinets before.

I tried a big, fat sharpie that I had. Unfortunately, the marker isn't the right color for the cpo. The marker is more of a purple hue and looks very odd. It also wiped right off, even after a few minutes.

Try a paint marker. Do the same thing, go over it then wipe off.

I caved and just bought the overlay from Rich... what a difference!
