Hello,
I just picked up a RB-8CD Antique Apparatus from a local antique shop. I been going through it and fixing what I can. I been trying to find a manual of some kind of this machine. My first problem I am tackling is the color wheel motor and all the bubbler tube heater resistors are not working. I am not getting any power on the lines to them. I noticed that the 28VAC is not lighting up on the power supply and assume it might be related to those items, but not 100% sure as i don't have a schematic. All the tubes otherwise look in good condition for its age, resistors have ohm in range when tested.

Thank you
Robert

Is the computer running? Worked on one the computer needs to send signal to power supply to enable one of the voltages, don't remember if it's 28vac. Sent computer to Jorge in California for repair. Caution ribbon cable to keyboard not keyed.

The computers seems to be working. I am getting no errors anywhere. The cd tray does have an issue. It almost sounds like the motor to spin the cds might be locked up. The 28vac does flash when powering on like it wants to come on. But goes right back off.

That's Rowe components, one I worked on was rockola. Disconnect output connector from power supply see if 28 vac stays on.

CD player probably needs rebuilt. Disconnect wheel motors see if 28 vac stays on.

Congrats on the RB-8CD! 🎉

If the 28VAC isn't showing, that's likely why the color wheel and tube heaters aren't working. Check the transformer winding, inline fuses, and any relay/switch contacts. Also, disconnect each load (tubes/motor) to see if one is shorting the line.

I've used abcd jukebox near Dayton ohio, last time I checked 4 week turn around. Facebook, Dan Stacey in Texas 2 day turn around I haven't used him.

So finally having time to tackle the issues. I was able to fix the 28VAC. Was a bad solder joint that looks like it might of shorted out at one time (burnt marks on Molex). So bubblers are now working and spin motor. I plugged in the power connector for the carousel but it doesn't spin. I hear the motor trying but it seems to be locked up. What would be the best troubleshooting stems for this? When the jukebox first comes on does it normally spin the carousel? or would it be another motor trying to spin.

I believe the carousel should make one revolution when powered up. Possible something jammed up or grease in mec assembly dried up. Are all voltage led s on, status led s on?

Here is a video to hear what it sounds like when turning on.

Yup. Confirmed. All voltage is correct. Going to look at main motor

I have found the first issue with the Carousel. The motor that controls the pick up arm seems to be bad. That was the buzzing noise when it is turned on trying to engage. Where can i find a replacement motor or part number for the below picture. I checked with victory glass but the one they have with picture looks different from mine.

Thank you
Robert

Looks like standard Rowe motor used on most of their cd boxes. Try discontinuing from the mechanism assembly see if it runs.

Ordered a replacement motor i was able to find on ebay. Now arm is working like it is suppose too. Next hurdle to tackle is it will not play any cds. It picks them up and tries to play but the laser doesn't move. It just spins the cd and after a little bit puts it back and tries again. Are these cd players repairable or just replace and if replacing how to find model or part number to replace it with?

Thank you
