Can anyone recommend a good anti-static spray?

I just completed the conversion of all my machines to Tokens, so Static Discharge is going to be an issue now. Mostly with the Bally Games (Mrs. Pac, Jr. Pac, and Tapper).

Really? Tokens are bigger problems for static shocks than coins???

static spray

Hey,

All you need is something that will reduce friction and break the surface tension. You can use liquid fabric softener like Downy to make anti-static spray. Buy the cheap stuff and get it without fragrance, unless you want your place to smell like a laundromat! Use around 1 part fabric softener to 8 parts water. If you are not getting enough reduction in static, use as high as 1 part softener to 4 parts water. NOTE: this will make your floors slippery, somewhat more so than commercial staticides. This works good in your car too, so you don't blow-up the local gas station in Fall/early Winter.
I haven't checked the prices on commercial staticides for a long time. Several of my previous workplaces used Downy because it was cheaper.

You can buy Static-Guard almost everywhere. Sam's used to have it in 1lb cans. When I used to shampoo the carpets I would buy the anti-static cleaner when I rented the rug doctors.

For monitors, you can get an anti-static spray cleaner (don't remember the brand anme) from Office Depot. This will help the dust buildup on the bezels and the black film over the monitors themselves.

Isn't the static zap part of the 80's experience, though? :confused:

I'm being serious. But I can also relate to not wanting to aid in grounding something... But I remember getting shocked quite often in arcades, inserting coins. The secret is barely putting the coin in, and giving it a really quick push, then pulling your fingers away fast. ;)

They sell that crap in spray cans at the grocery store. I know because my ex used to use it all the time on her clothes.
If I remember right the can was orange.

Just toss a couple drier sheets in it, and turn it on. You're clothes will come out smelling fresh, and oH wait.. You're not talking about a clothes drier.

Just put some ESD mats in front of all your games, wear a wrist strap, and get some of those ESD shoe covers... You'll look goofy as hell, but no more static cling!
