I have seen Pinballlife solutions to the glare from the DMD, kinda cool. Either the film or the plastic piece that sticks out...

I also have heard about the whole playfield glass being installed with anti glare technology.

Anyone use this on their machnes?

From what I understand, and a friend confirmed yesterday, that this glass comes from Germany and is approximately $300. Is there a web link available?

Has this been produced locally? Does this product justify the price?

I have a sheet and it is pretty nice. The lower 3/4 of the playfield looks like there is no glass installed. You still get a little glare from the translite and DMD at the back, but it is significantly cut down. I also use a glare screen from PBL and it cuts down on the DMD glare even more.

It does come from Germany. My understanding is that nobody domestically coats glass thinner than 1/4" and pin glass is 3/16". Supposedly someone is working on getting a domestic source. JJP is putting anti-glare glass on WOZ, and this makes me wonder if they have found a domestic source. If they have, we may see the price come down soon. All speculation though.

It is $300 + $30 shipping. You get it from Pinball Decals Inc. Joey places orders a few times a year. You have to watch for his announcements or check the web page for when orders are open and get in on a shipment. You get a price break at 5 sheets, so some people buy as a group to save a little money.

I would love to get to get this for my pins, but cant justify the price yet - 4 pins now, and, i couldnt just do it to one, the others would be jealous.

I havent seen them in person. I have been following reviews of it since day one, and from what i read, its beyond amazing. I havent heard one negative review, except for the cost of course.

One guy posted a story -(something like this) - after putting the glass on, he called his son over to take a look, and ask what was different about this machine. His son stared at it but couldnt figure it out. He finally gave up, and just said the game has just has the glass off thats all he could tell is different than usual. Needless to say he was stunned when he learned there was glass there.

I am just waiting for a price drop. I guess it will be years before we see it reach < 200 dollars - that may be my acceptance point. I am usually "liberal" on my pin spending, but 300 is way to high for me and not really fair i am sorry to say.

I have played some machines with the non glare glass. It is nice. You will still get the reflection from the DMD, so he had the plastic things as well.
The owner had these items on all 15 of his pins. Nice is an understatement.

I've had mine for a little over a week and only one person outside my family has seen it. We were engaged in typical pin discussions and after a while I pointed to the machine with the non-glare glass and mentioned that it had it installed. His response was, "Oh, I thought there wasn't any glass in it."

I agree, this is my only issue. I have seen the glass in person and it is amazing but I can't justify that much $$.

I heard that several games at PAPA used the glass. As commentary videos come out I guess we'll get to see them in action.

I have a couple of sheets of the "PDI Glass" that PDI decals sells, and while it's expensive, it adds an incredible dimension to the game and I'd put it on all my pins if I could afford to! Once you have it on one of your pins, you'll want it on all of them, plain and simple. I had mine on my Lord of the Rings LE, and moved it to another game, and when I went back to LOTR it just looked terrible with all the glare back and was difficult to play since I was so used to it not having the glare. LOL. It's that good IMO.

I've talked to Joey about the glass, and it is made in Germany and there are different levels of "reflectivity", and he holds the company that produces his glass to a pretty high standard. He even had a batch that had to be destroyed since it didn't meet his specifications. A bunch of guys on my local pinball forum tried to find a source or a way to create this glass themselves, and the price they came up with was about the price that Joey sells the glass for FYI. This include a non-reflective window tint style film being applied and a few other methods that would potentially be glare free.

The glass that is being put on WOZ is the same glass that Joey at PDI uses, and Joey was the one that set up Jersey Jack with the distributor in Germany and there is a non-compete contract between them about the distribution of the glass outside of a WOZ sale... so those that are hoping for a cheaper source, it does not appear that is going to be the case. Besides that, WOZ is going to be a widebody, so all of that glass is going to be widebody.

I would highly recommend this glass to anyone on the fence, especially if you have that one collector game or grail, for $300 to enhance that one game it's well worth it (I currently have a few sheets of this glass, and they are on my grail games such as my fully restored/clearcoated PF Medieval Madness and Tron LE). I try to buy at least one sheet every time PDI gets a shipment in (He only gets 2-3 shipments a year and it can be 20 weeks in-between orders).

Good luck! And again, once you have one sheet... you'll want your entire collection to have this! You've been warned! :)

Thanks for the information, khabbi.

My sheet was delivered before I had my AFM restore done so I put it in my Iron Man for the time being. When I moved it out of IM, it just wasn't the same. I don't know if I'll order another sheet, but it is tempting.
