Last fall, I picked up a non working Turbo for a song. It booted to garbled images (lots of "9"s on the screen for some reason.).

I bought a working Turbo boardset, but by then the Ohio winter was upon us, and it was way too cold to go out to my detached garage to work on it.

Finally, over the last week, I installed the replacement boardset, rebuilt the start button, resoldered the +5 to the steering wheel, and tested the game. It booted up fine, but the sounds were very faint, even after adjusting all the volume knobs on the PCB and inside the coin door. I then swapped the original faulty boardset's sound board back in.

Now it works and sounds great! Another Turbo saved!

I still need to tweak/cap kit the monitor and install a new marquee light fixture, but Turbo is now driving down that pixelated highway once more! Pictures coming soon.

A related question. I've seen many Turbo's converted into Buggy Challenge over the years. Was this a plug-and-play kit for the Turbo harness? The sales flyer for Buggy Challenge is quiet on the subject.
