I've warmed up to this game recently and in good time. I can't wait to get a cap kit installed on this and start playing.

I took some pictures of DK3 that I picked up tonight. Some things to note. The markings you see next to the speaker grill is actually duct tape residue. The volume pot was on full blast and I think whoever owned it didn't know how to turn it down. So they placed duct tape over the speaker grill. Some people are clever. Wow. Just...wow. It shouldn't be too hard to clean off though. I believe the speaker is blown now because it just makes a really high pitch noise even with the volume pot all the way down. Either that, the audio board needs to be recapped.

Other than that, the CPO has minor damage, but not enough that I would feel compelled to buy a new CPO anytime soon. The bezel and marquee are really nice. The side art is pristine with the exception of a few nicks. The base is all intact and just needs new paint. It has two Nintendo Serial Plates attached. That's a first for me.

Traded for a Star Wars Lego Death Star II set. The seller said a guy actually called saying he had the money and could get there within the hour, but he was a nice guy and held it for me. There are occasionally good people on CL.

From my other post:

Yeah I know. People don't usually accept item trades but I figured it didn't hurt to ask. Luckily, he likes Star Wars. I'm giving him Death Star II NIB which is no longer in production and is valued at about 250-300.

Sorry, I started a new post so it would be easy for guys to find the pictures since they are in multiple posts.

Hey Jess, DK3 was released as a kit with its own serial number plate. So what you have is a DK cab with the DK3 kit installed. The stupid sticker on your bezel makes it official. Mine has the sticker on the bezel as well. I don't know why they didn't put them somewhere else. Mine is in a DKJr cab.

Edit: Almost forgot, get the deluxe capkit with the audio caps from Bob. Might as well do it all while you have it out. He also sells the pots for the adjustment board, and the 2 video pots for the game board. Might be worth grabbing the pots and putting them away just in case. I hate paying shipping when I just need one kit down the road.

Thanks for the info Paul. I didn't like that it was blue at first, but it's growing on me. I thought it may look good in red or orange, but I'm not touching the sides with the side art in such great condition. It may work out better anyways so when I line up the cabs, it will be blue, orange, blue, orange, orange. DK, DK jr., DK3, Vs., Mario Bros. :)

Nice score. I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

I'd like to add your tag info to the database I have going. I can't quite read the serial number in the pictures. I think I see

DK - 154397
DD3 - ???????

Would you mind confirming the numbers?

Murph

Any chance you'd want to part with one of the serial plates? The DK I picked up didn't have one and I really want to put one back there even though the number will be off...

You are correct on the DK plate. The DK3 plate reads "14177 PAK"

My DK cab is 32584
My DK Jr. cab is 60497
My Mario Bros. is 03204

Sorry Javeryh, I want to keep the plates on the cabinet as they are.

Congrats, Jess. Looks to be a really good pick-up. Are you gonna keep it blue? I personally don't mind the blue, I kind of like it. Your collection is really coming along! You have very good tastes in games. ;)
