Just did my first cap kit. 4900, now the picture is rolling. The pots are very sensitive and I tried for an hour but just can't get it to stop. It rolls both H and V. I've almost got it to stop, but when the screen changes (60-1) it will start again or if you barely bump the monitor/cab, it goes to hell.

Weird thing is I pulled both sync wires off and no change. It's almost like I don't need them connected. (I did try both one at a time).

Other than that the screen looks great. Nice color and the fold over issue is gone.

So I would assume that I did the caps right? Just screwed something else up. I realized how bad at soldering I am.

I guess I'm going to have pull the board and check......?????

also try moving the sync connector one pin foward, and if that dont do it try to plug it on backwards..

alot of times ops will do something like that.. 20 years later you come along and put it back togther, never realizing its one pin off etc..

im not saying thats what it is for sure, but alot of times thats it.

For a 60-in-1 on a 4900, try connecting both sync wires to the negative sync pins (last two on the 3-pin side). If that doesn't work, then only connect the sync to the last pin (farthest from the 6-pin part). Sometimes the 60-in-1 will sync with both connected, and sometimes only with the horizontal connected...

Tried all suggestions, same result. It's like the sync isn't connected. I pulled the sync molex completely off the board and nothing changed.

I'm wondering if there is a cap nearby that I didn't solder correctly. Before I pull the board back out....would a cap cause this???

FYI, the monitor didn't have this issue before the cap kit, and I left those wires connected when I did it, so nothing changed as far as that.

You capped it while it was connected?

I completely remove a chassis when rebuilding it. It's possible your hold pots are bad. Did you reflow the video connector pins when you did the caps?

HELL NO!!! I meant those wires. Yes the board was pulled lol!!

FIXED!!!! Pulled the board and re-flowed EVERYTHING I f****d with.

Thanks for the help. Not so scared anymore to mess with monitors.
