Another SW pickup

Looks to me like if the original asking price was met, instead of trying to lowball her down, the game would be Moe's.

I read the above as :
"I lowballed her hard, how hard did you go?"
"Meh, I only shafted her a little bit."
"Well no wonder she sold it to you then, I tried to buttrape her."

This is noone's fault but your own, not even the seller.

I cant offer full price for an unseen cab with no pics in the ad I would feel crappy showing up and saying im not taking it only Offered $50 less than what she wanted

thats on the seller... But offering less = iffy buyer...

How jehuie got it for I am sure is less than $400 is beyond me. Dude must roll with a gun in one hand and cash in the other..

Nothing good comes from telling people about scores if you don't plan on keeping them...

I never said I got it less for $400. Or even less than $450. All I said was that I didn't pay full price. But I also bought it specifically for another collector who was wanting it. Not for myself.

Well I get the impression Jehuie paid considerably less then the asking price, so somebody's numbers are not factual.

But since one of you wants it for parts and the other doesn't even know how to identify it's components, neither one of you should have bought it. The likelihood of it leaving complete and working from either of your garages is slim, and that's pretty crappy.

Congrats on getting it. No matter why. You friend will be very happy. It looks a little better than your keeper. Your control panel looks a little green...

You should do something about that window. your going to fade your art..

Thank you sir. Yeah, it's because I'm green with envy that his cab will be nicer than mine on several counts. :)

I'm sorry- I can't let this statement pass without comment.
Is this supposed to be a general statement?
This sounds like the cheap bastard syndrome in full effect.
What if the Star Wars was listed for $400? $300? $200? Is there some point at which full price for an unseen cab with no pics IS acceptable?

I would feel crappy showing up and saying im not taking it only Offered $50 less than what she wanted

A word of advice on this note too- ALWAYS be willing to show up and say you're not taking it after seeing it. Don't feel bad about it either. This is your privilege as a buyer as much as offering less than asking price is.

You must have offered her more money than me. What other reason could it be?

Andrew

Based on what I have read, unless I misunderstood, the seller was not honest. She allowed jehuie to come get it, accept an offer, and haul it off with no regard for the situation she had worked out with you.

I have had the exact same thing happen to me on a game I still have. It went on CL one evening, I contracted the seller within like minutes, if not seconds. I literally happened to be sitting there and saw it get posted. Anyway, he was inundated with calls. I was had set up a time to see it after work the following day. I never talk money unless I have seen the game first hand so no offer was made. We had an ongoing dialogue. The next day he txts me by lunch time and says he was offered several hundred over asking to hold it, so he was. I told him what I thought of the situation, and even pitched him some advice as to how he should expect the deal to go down. A few days later I get a call saying it was mine if I wanted it so I took it at asking price. Game was worth it.

A year plus later I am chatting with a local (he is on here) and I tell the story. Turns out he had successfully set up a viewing time as well but the seller kept pulling his chain when it came time to see the game. Perhaps several times...may be recalling incorrectly. I had never gotten as far as having my time slot "come up" as the seller shut me down way early. No, the KLOVer was not the guy with the inflated "hold it" offer. For whatever reason the seller skated on the fellow KLOVer but called me. Perhaps since he baited him a few times he felt it was best not to see him face to face, I don't know. Either way, in effect, I got the game out from under him...with no way of knowing I had.

I felt bad about it....but it is what it is. It was not MY FAULT the dude called me and douched over someone else. As is the case here, there is no way the other party would have EVER known is if was not for the fact we happen to intersect in the collecting community in some form.

I never offer anything over the phone. Money talks should be made in person when you see the machine. That way the seller doesnt think your lowballing onthe phone, and you can point out any issues with the machine. JMO.:)

People seem to think I use some kind of voodoo or something but it's not mysterious. I asked what the least was that she would take. She told me. It was more than I had to work with so I told her I'd think about it. I knew several people locally who were looking for one so I messaged one of them. He said no thanks. I messaged another. He didn't respond. I messaged another. He said yeah, grab it for me if you can. I called her up and said it sounds like a fair price and asked if I could come get it. She said yes. So I did.

She never said anything about having a deal with someone and I don't believe that she thought anyone had made a commitment to purchase the thing at that point. I made the commitment and she sold it to me when I got there.

It kind of bothers me that people are so quick to call someone a bad name when they have no idea what really happened. The seller seemed like she was on the up and up to me.

I say nice score brother. You had no clue she had another deal lined up. What she did was not cool, but you did nothing wrong. BTW I have 3 Star Wars machines:eek:

If one SW game is good, then 3 SW games must be better right? :)

Craigslist is a word. It means absolutely nothing. There is just a human being selling something. Every listing on Craigslist is as different as the people selling the items. Sometimes you get lucky, sometimes somebody else gets there first.

The only real thing that these threads teach me is that in different parts of the country, games are practically falling from the sky. California is apparently one of them. That machine wouldn't last five seconds here at $500, let alone $700. You'd have to claw your way through 150 people to get it.

And to make matters worse, both of you guys already HAVE Star Wars machines. Lucky bastards!! :)
