Another Spy Hunter Accelerator Pot Adjustment thread

I've been trying to adjust my Spy Hunter accelerator pot...this is where I am:

My problem is that I cannot get enough high-end speed to get the flames without having a starting speed more than 0.

On the pot adjustment screen, it reads 0B, as it is supposed to.

When I use the Pot Calibration screen, if I put the low end at 00, the high end will not go above 1C...but I need 00-1F to get the full speed I should. The only way I can get up to 1F is to set the low end at 03, but then I creep along and cannot fully stop.

How can I get more high end out of the pot without increasing the low end?

Thanks

Is it a new pot?

1F isn't max speed, btw.

It is probably the original pot.

It moves nice and steady from 00 to about 1C.

If I want the upper range up at 21, 23, etc...I have to start at 05 or 06...I can't set the "high" any higher without setting the "low" higher...am I missing something?

I would be happy to get the top speed up to 1F (with the low at 00)

thanks

If your pot is blue then it's probably original.

I'd get a new one.

I noticed tonight on mine that the gear itself is worn out and has ate the teeth on the piece connected to the pedal. I was not able to get enough speed to get on the weapons van. I spun the gear around and now it works enough for me to get on the van. Still not 100% though.

A new pot may get you to the point where you're happy. The new ones have more high end range than what you actually need so that plus your gear hack may be enough.

Mine had the same problem. I have the original (blue) pedal pot still in it.

I just adjusted it so that I get high end, but the car won't stay stopped now. Not a big deal for me. When I start the game or get out of the weapon's van, I like to get moving anyway :D

Yah, that is what I did, too...I'd rather it works properly, but it isn't a big deal.

The teeth on my gear are all present and working.

Are pots known to lose range with age? If this is a known issue with pots, I'll replace it...mine is indeed a blue pot.

I saw some people saying the new pots from mouser don't line up and are hard to install (have to drill a hole)...is that right?

thanks

No pot is going to come with a hole -- you have to drill one.

It's not that hard really to replace one; there are just some things to be careful of and once you've done it one time and know the ropes its quite simple.

I've documented it exhaustively in other threads here so others can learn from my experience with it and hopefully it'll make things easier.

And yeah, a new pot would fix this properly.

Thanks for the info. I did find your instructions in the other thread.

I'll give it a shot.
